
I have been a member at a few Planet Fitness locations around the country, and this one seems to be in line with my previous locations.
It's pretty large (although, I wish there were duplicates of a few more of the machines...Some machines like the bicep curl, tricep press, stair climber, and ab machines only have one machine). There are always open treadmills, ellipticals, and other cardio equipment though. The 30 Minute workout section is somewhat tight, as well. I try to get up early and go at 5am vs 5pm to avoid the crowds, and the experiences are completely different.
The staff is always super friendly, with the exception of one or two employees. For the most part, the clientele is polite. Occasionally, I will have someone on their phone next to me on the cardio equipment or screaming at their friend from across the gym for an entire conversation. Some days, the staff can get pretty trigger happy with the Lunk Alarm (I have seen them hit it when people barely drop the weights on a weighted machine, in error).
There aren't a lot of affordable tanning options in Goldsboro, and their beds are pretty nice.
Most of the complaints on here are about their contracts (returned payment charges, guests not able to use the Black Card Zone, etc). All of that was clearly explained to me during the sign-up process, is reflected in my contract, and seems very reasonable. I mean, you're paying $10 or $20 a month. Read moreWill try to rob you whenever they can. Got charged 3 late fees despite my account and routing numbers being connected. Was told I was charged the late fee because my account number wrong. When I showed them they clearly have my account number because they just pulled out $40.05 from my account, I was told that they pulled it off my card when they couldn't pull from my account, a card which had been expired for months, so how can that work? Then I was told that they never pulled out of my account despite showing the assistant manager my account they did infact take my money. How's the old saying go? "Don't piss on my back and tell me it's raining." Needless to say, after I'm done with the year contract, I'm done with planets fitness.
(In reply to the owner): I want to clarify that this is not a staff issue and has nothing to do with how I was treated by the staff. The staff tried to help me with the best of their ability. This is a someone keeps stealing money from me issue. Also I've already wasted the time of sending an email to customer support before and that's when I was initially told my account number was wrong on my account. Still trying to figure out how you can have my wrong account information but still take money out of my account, kinda...
Read moreI liked the gym when I was going, about 3 years ago. U especially loved the Whole Body Enhancement machine. Had not heard about red light therapy at the time, but noticed that after using it I had more energy and my mood improved a lot. Had to quit temporarily for personal reasons, but then I went back, mostly for this machine. Got in it, red lights came on for about 5 seconds, then went out and it looked like regular lef lights. I still stayed in and hoped for the best, but I definitely did not feel better after. Told the manager and she said it was working, she saw red light come on. I took her back to machine and showed her that it cut off almost immediately. Didn't seem like this was going to be fixed, so I quit. Would love to rejoin, but only if the whole Body Enhancement red lights actually work, and it would be helpful if staff knew how to work it so they could explain it to guests. There are no instructions for this machine...
