I’m from New Orleans and this is not the Cajun experience I was expecting.

Pros Price Hashbrowns Home fries Outdoor seating

Cons Bad service Read on...

We parked across from the place since their lot was full and sat outside in the sunshine. I ordered a vegetarian crazie shirley’s scramble and my friend ordered the California Benedict.

My server made a mistake and brought out a different dish with meat in it, but was quick to rectify the situation. My scramble came out soon after, but the eggs and mushrooms had no flavor. (The hasbrowns and toast were good.) Also... despite the initial problem being meat... there was still meat on my plate under the hashbrowns. Apparently they had just transferred the hashbrowns from one plate to another which would have been okay except that meat makes me really sick.

The California Benedict was cold when it arrived and one of the eggs was not poached. Ry was really hungry and didn’t want to have to wait any longer so he ate it anyway. He also said he thought the hollandaise was salty. But the home fries were good.

I tried to talk to our server about our experience at the end of our meal, but he wasn’t feeling very receptive and...

Worse experience I ever had it is so sad to see how bad this place got, I used to go to the one on Hollister at least 2 times a week, now after over a year my family and I wanted to go back and get some of our favorite food, this has been the best place for so many years. Now the service to begin with is very bad, it took 10 minutes just to get a server to get to our table, we asked for the menu and we got only ONE menu so we have to pass it around. Finally we got the order in the busboy, got our drinks to the table he was so rude we asked if we can get some sugar and cream he turned around and grab a serving set from another table and literally just dropped it in one of the corners of our table and walked away. Minutes after he came back with some water And put it on the side of the table. I requested some flavor creamer he looked at me by his expression seems like he was not too happy that I make that request, I have never experienced anything like this before the whole staff was so friendly very polite but most importantly they make you feel that you are welcome and they appreciate you as a customer. This is going to be our last time here...

I've lived here 20+ years. When I first went there in 2002, it was one of the only places around for breakfast. The food was bland and undercooked sometimes and I never understood the long lines and wait. Flash forward to 2025 and I gave them another try. Same result, but this time I get a whole bay leaf in my burrito (so you have no warning because you can't see it). I don't know if the cooks around here just don't understand Cuban bean herbs or what (Cody's did this to last week and I threw up my breakfast because I accidentally swallowed part of one and my throat rejected it thank goodness), but the chefs didn't remove them. It's becoming a hazard to eat beans in a burrito in this town. Needless to say, I'm disappointed and won't be back for at least another 20 years. It cost me $17 + delivery and tip, btw. Not worth this price of they can't even put a little care into...

For the first time we passed by and there was no line at this location so we gave it a try. I'd been battling gout so I couldn't have my favorite shrimp and grits, or even jambalaya. Instead, I had the blackened chicken. It was a little bland and disappointing. A sprinkle of creole seasoning I discovered among the condiments helped. Rice was OK, but the coleslaw was bland too. It came with a big slab of cornbread, which is always good. She was happy with her breakfast burrito, it was the same quality we're used to at the other locations. Service was average, not what we're used to. The bland chicken and the service pulled my rating down to three and a half stars, but I rounded up to four because the shrimp and grits probably would have made me very happy that day.
