Should have gone to Macayo's, Arriba's or Manuel's! If I could give NEGATIVE stars, I would!
This was our first time going to Popos and I can say I'm extremely disappointed! The prices on the menu were ridiculous in comparison to what you spend at similar restaurants but, I was still willing to approach the meal with a positive attitude. We were trying to give the place a fair shot. We ordered our food and proceeded to just visit and enjoy the chips and salsa while waiting for the cheese crisp. Well, cheese "crisp" is very misleading. What we were served was basically a warmed tortilla with melted cheese on it. There was nothing crisp about the cheese crisp. This along with the high prices on the menu was strike number one and strike number two. Well, what the food was being brought to the table, the waitress tilted my plate towards me when putting the plate down and proceeded to spill extremely hot and greasy enchilada sauce on my shirt and pants. She apologized and I was extremely kind about it and told her accidents happen. I chose to be kind and not cause a scene about it. She also proceeded to set the plate down in front of me with the messy sauce spilling over the side of it facing closest to me. The last thing i meeded was for more of it to get on me so, i struggled using multiple napkins as pot warmers to rotate the plate myself. No offer of any help was given by the waitress. The meal is now very unpleasant for us with all of this unnecessary hassle. I still chose to remain kind and not make a scene about any of it. I had hoped she would appreciate the kindness and in turn do the right thing and at least discount the meal in some way. So much for giving the waitress the benefit of the doubt. The bill came and not a discount was to be seen or offered. Again, I decided I would choose kindness and we walked out after paying the bill. I decided rather than making a scene in the restaurant I would just write a review and share the terrible experience and at least get it off my chest. We can definitely say, this was our first and last experience at this place. The service is a lot better at Arriba's, Macayo's and Manuel's.
Sincerely, A very disappointed...
Read moreUsually we have an excellent experience here. Although expensive for traditional Mexican food, we have justified the cost for the experience. This last time, it was all off. Everything started out like usual, until we got our food. It's started out with simple, small things, forgotten guacamole, no spoons, lettuce on the plate when we asked specifically for none, you know. But then, it started to compound. My husband's cheese enchiladas were in fact chicken tacos smothered in sauce. The tortillas on my carne asada tacos were chewy and, well, inedible. We sent the enchiladas because my husband cannot eat meat with his new medications, and asked that it simply be removed from the bill, we didn't want another plate. 10 minutes later, the manger brought over a new plate of enchiladas, sizzling like fajitas, and without one words set the plate down and walked away. The plate was so hot, the enchiladas burned and were unable to even be touched for another 10 minutes. At this point, nearly everyone else was done eating. We got our bill, and the uneaten piping hot enchiladas were still on the bill. We saw our server once after the food came. She was amicable, and very apologetic, but made excuse after excuse for all of the mishaps. I asked her to edit the bill, and got a "look" from the manager. Unfortunately, things like this are what stop us from returning to restaraunts. $22 for 3 inedible tacos and $19 for 2 inedible enchiladas is outrageous and nearly criminal. Sorry PoPo's, we...
Read moreFirst the positives the food is definitely to par with the original PoPos the atmosphere is decent. Now for the bad the service is extremely in need of work I don't understand how you have three different people you have to deal with yet you have to ask and hunt someone down to get something. The universal empty chip and salsa and drink at the edge of the table goes unnoticed and over looked and it's not to good when you need to request basics like silverware or salt for your table. Further more when bagging items in to go a simple request for a container for the salsa was denied to point that the manager justin comes to the table to tell you that a proper container can't be provided because they sale salsa and thier policy is not to provide a container. To add additional rediculasness and insult manager tells you how cheap the salsa is to purchase implying that your too broke to pay extra to be granted a container. Of coarse I straighted how policy on a container must supersede customer service which even that not Suttle hint apparently didn't trigger customer service to kick in. So in short PoPos would rather risk thousands of dollars in future business than provide you with a to go container for the salsa they will be throwing in the trash excellent business moto. Don't know if I'll be returning I'd rather drive the extra miles to the original PoPos on 67th and indian school where they know how to treat people with respect and...
