I've never been to this type of barbecue Country Restaurant. It's kind of like a cafeteria style dining where you go up in a line, get your own drinks and sides from the fridge, and then head to the cashier to order your main course. They didn't have typical main courses, it was just all types of meat that they had barbecued or smoked. You ordered by half pound or pound for some types of meat. Once you're done ordering they give you a basket crate to hold all your stuff. There's no plates which is kind of cool, just wax paper to eat off of. You can stop at the condiments bar where they have pickled jalapenos, pickles and peppers. Your typical sauces and cutlery. They give you complimentary bread that goes with it and then you go and find a seat. The place was very spacious and there was a lot of seating. It would definitely be nice to take the family there because they have big picnic tables inside, and it was just an all-around fun experience.
Now going back to the cashier, I just wanted to say that she was super helpful and so sweet. Loved her outgoing personality, and how patient she was because it was my first time. I loved the fact that she gave free samples so I knew what I was getting into lol. She definitely made the experience so much better and I would totally go back and bring more people.
I guess I should mention something about the food? It was soooooo good. This place is meant for meat eaters! Sorry vegans, not really a place for you unless you just like eating sides. Their creamed corn went well with all the smoked meat so make sure you order a side of that to try.
If you didn't finish everything, they had all their to go stuff out at a different bar which was nice you didn't have to go back up to the cashier. Aside from that, the overall experience was really...
Read moreIs rudy's the best BBQ out here..Im not sure. What I can tell you is rudy's is well worth your money. First off the atmosphere is chill and the restaurant is clean. The employees are courteous and welcoming. We had an issue with our order and the manager more than made up for it and embodied customer service. As a district manager in the food service industry this is great to see that taking care of the customer is still prioritized. That probably has something to do with why there lobby is often packed. Now to the food, the spicy chopped is my favorite and I can eat it every damn day. The creamed corn is to die for and apparently I found out I like peach cobbler after not liking it my whole life. We've also had turkey, chicken, brisket, ribs, baked potatoes, sausages, baked beans and pudding. The only thing I didn't care for were the ribs but they have 2 different styles and the baby back ribs look much better than the ones I got so I'll try those next time. The beans could be sweeter for my taste but I'm a brown sugar and honey in my beans type of guy. The chicken is decent and juicy with a slight kick to it. My wife loves the turkey and baked potatoes. The baked potatoes are huge and come with the fixings and any meats you like. It's a hearty potato for sure. (Half of one with fill you up)The topping bar includes free bread, onions, cherry peppers and picked jalapeño and carrots. They have a sissy BBQ and regular BBQ sauce for you to choose from. We have eaten here 4 times in the last few weeks so safe to say overall my family really enjoys Rudy's....
Read moreAs a former Texan turned Arizonan, I was thrilled to see Rudy's has locations here! I've been to the original Rudy's BBQ in Leon Springs, TX as well as some of the other branches and eating at the one in Goodyear, AZ made me feel right at home. Meat-eaters will adore all the choices on the menu and the traditional smoked flavor of true Texas BBQ. Pick up some Rudy's Merch while you are there - Rudy's Rub and a bottle of Rudy's Sause for your next home smoke or picnic.
To navigate Rudy's, grab a beer from the ice cooler while standing in line and any sides you want from the refrigerator section (or order sides at the counter) and order your grub and fountain drink cup at the counter. Then fill your drink at the fountain drink station by the condiments island. Grab some condiments, lots of napkins and some Butcher Paper - to use as a "plate".
A nice thing about the location in Goodyear is that they have tons of seating and after your meal you can wash your BBQ hands at the hand wash station outside the bathrooms. Make sure you clean up your table and throw away your trash when you are done as that's the polite thing to do and as the signs around the dining room state "Your mother doesn't work here clean up your own mess!" Love it!
My menu favorites are the baby back ribs, the smoked sausage, the (DELICIOUS) spicy chopped, their coleslaw, and choosing from the veggie bar (sliced onion, cherry peppers, jalapenos, pickles, lemon wedges) to add to a slice of bread to make a chopped sandwich or sliced sausage...
