I was craving a smoothie, so I decided to treat myself to a meal at the Tropical Smoothie Cafe during my lunch break. Upon entering the restaurant, I noticed two employees, a girl with curly hair and a boy with a patchy beard, were handling some bread in the kitchen, but neither bothered to look up from what they were doing. I would expect at least a courteous, âsomeone will be with you in a moment!â but they failed to offer any form of acknowledgment. Even the employees at McDonaldâs will greet you when you approach their register, and if Iâm paying $7-$10 for a drink, Iâm going to expect better service than what Iâm getting at McDonaldâs. Additionally, I noticed that none of the employees were wearing name tags, which speaks volumes about the type of establishment that this is.
I quietly stood in front of the registers for a while, trying to catch someoneâs eye. I looked around at the other customers, and everyone already had their food. I was starting to get worried about whether or not Iâd be able to have time left to eat my lunch if I wasnât able to order soon. Eventually, one of the customers seated on the table directly in front of the registers spoke up, saying that she had no idea why no one was talking to me because she and her friend had already received their food, and the staff didnât appear to be busy with any other orders. I decided that I had waited patiently long enough, so I said, âexcuse me, can somebody take my order?â I watched as the two employees continued to move bread around without any response for a bit, before a girl with a septum piercing made her way to the registers to finally take my order.
She didnât offer any sort of apology for my wait time, and seemed really annoyed that I wanted to order something. I tried to give the staff the benefit of the doubt, and assumed that they were probably really busy. However, to my surprise, my name was called almost immediately. It took longer for my presence to be acknowledged than it took for them to make my order, which tells me they werenât busy with other orders after allâ theyâre simply just lazy individuals who donât care.
When I attempted to express my disappointment in their poor service, the girl with the curly hair got defensive and started to argue with me instead of apologizing for ignoring me. Then, one of their regulars, an elderly man wearing a suit, got involved and began to loudly harass me. He waved his finger barely inch away from my nose as he screamed in my face (which could be determined as assault) and the employees did nothing.
I will not be returning to this franchise until they have found new staff members. I would recommend that management replaces their workers with people who are actually capable of doing their jobs, but perhaps the managers here are just as indifferent and incompetent. Either way, stay far away from this place if you value quality customer service, because you will find none of that at...
Read moreONE STAR AS A PARTING GIFT - I have never left a bad review in my life but Iâve also never been treated so horribly. I canât believe that a place we come to so frequently would STEAL from me. We get smoothies here at least a few times a week and I often buy smoothies for friends, family, teachers and teams too. NEVER AGAIN.
After getting smoothies for my family, I then purchased 16 large smoothies & chips (a $159 order) to surprise my daughterâs volleyball team yesterday and had my son bring them out to the car. When I saw there were only 13, I asked him to grab the last three.
He then went into the store and was in there so long that a long line had formed behind him, so I went in to see if everything was okay. Unbeknownst to me at the time the so-called âteam leadâ belittled and scolded my shy 13 year old son, for kindly asking for the three smoothies that we didnât receive. Upon my entrance, my son immediately went to the car saddened, and I soon after found out that it was because he was publicly humiliated and berated in front of a many others, because the same thing then happened to me when I was verbally attacked and called a liar in front of a full restaurant. We paid for 3 large smoothies. They took money for goods not rendered. They stole from us, not only monetarily but also took an hour from our lives that weâll never get back.
Three girls on the volleyball team were left out and did not get the smoothies that I paid for.
She would not give me her name nor allow me to talk to the teenage boy who made our smoothies because I was certain he could vouch for us. I even asked him, âCan you please help us? Remember we ordered 16 smoothies?â Instead, he walked by scoffing and laughed at me.
I was also told I couldnât speak with management.
Employees with faces mostly covered, except when raising her voice, & when he laughed at me, and no name tags. When people can mask their faces AND conceal their identities they donât take ownership of their actions. This is like online bullying turned to real life.
Because I was told I could not speak to anyone in management, Iâm posting here in hopes that someone takes ownership of the store and the actions of those theyâre trusting to run it. There was no transparency, accountability or respect. Even a little would have gone a long way.
As a fellow business owner in the service industry I know times are hard, people are busy, and good employees are hard to come by, but Iâm still so saddened at Tropical Smoothie Cafeâs employeeâs dishonesty and by this harrowing experience. We as fellow human beings can do better.
It was embarrassing, unprofessional, and illegal.
Please review the footage on your cameras.
As much as it hurts my heart to say this, as a long time regular customer, we will not...
Read moreTo say the least Iâve never experienced such disgusting service! I shop this location frequently, only because I work nearby itâs usually quick & easy! I have noticed over the past several months employees have lost their touch of professionalism & sense of self care. They look as if they just rolled out of bed, the girls need to wear longer shorts! Lol I walked in today and it took at least 5 minutes for anyone to acknowledge me, another 2-3 minutes for anyone to finally take my order. I could immediately see and feel the stress from the 2 girls working. Both looked overworked and I could hear them complaining about a water leak in the kitchen area, also where I witnessed a large knife on the floor that nobody would pick up, they stepped right over it. I kindly asked one girl how long my drink would take to make as time had already passed and I was running late for work now. She told me she didnât know because they had too many mobile orders. So I assumed walk ins werenât important. While waiting I witnessed a few customers upset because their orders were incorrect and the store was out of ingredients. 3-4 minutes passed and I asked again, the other girl rudely says âweâre busy and I donât knowâ. I told her that her service was unacceptable and she was rude and she continued to argue with me. I asked her for a refund and she told me they donât give refunds. I asked for a managers phone number and she said they only have email. I was then harassed by a young man who was waiting for his order who advised I leave and he opened the door. Lol that became another unnecessary argument! So I left with no drink and no refund. I emailed their customer service email that was provided when I called. CSR refused to give me a name of a manager. After reading past reviews I will never return. Looks like this place lacks a good manager! Service is horrible and their survey discounts suck! Buy a $12 sandwich get a smoothie for $1.99. How about a punch card buy 10 get one for $1.99 this store has faithful customers! Fix the problem Management!
PS- the response from management will be a careless apology and âplease leave us a review on how we can make this betterâ
Seems to be the answer to all reviews but nothing changes. Shut the doors if you canât see this location is not up to par...
