Went to the soft open of our friend Steve's new brewery this evening and had a blast! Stones Throw Brewing was packed! The actual official opening tomorrow will be OFF THE CHAIN! Tried 4 beers and promptly forgot the names, the best were "I Got the Bluebs" blueberry sour, the IPA that smelled really hoppy but tasted super-citrusy and refreshing, and the banana clove hefeweizen that looks murky but tastes clear, something about "Hefe" in the name. NOT "That's Bananas" which was skunky like banana peel and NOT one they brew. An unwanted guest LOL.
I came for the beer, but tried the pretzels and beer cheese, which were just as you expect. The fried pickles were INCREDIBLE. I am picky about my pickles and these were extra crispy with a touch of cornmeal in the batter, perfectly tangy and served with a nice ranch to balance it all.
The one-man band was fantastic, Herbie Mathis brings the full show. He has mad guitar skills and an angelic voice. We all enjoyed singing along to him as he gave us Creedence, Don Henley, Chicago, Pink Floyd, and loads of other favorites, and he took requests! He can do it all.
The staff was incredibly kind, upbeat, and enthusiastic. I realize this was Day 1, but they all seem ready for the long haul. I spoke with many employees and they are looking forward to their future here. This is the biggest thing to happen to the Creek since Veterans' Memorial Park. Get ready for more traffic and cop patrols LOL because this is about to blow up. The Place to Be. They're gonna have to expand the parking! What a problem to have 😉
Cheers to Steve and Art and Dave and everyone else putting their blood, sweat, tears, heart, soul, and cash into this. You will succeed here. Welcome to the Creek!
Glass was gifted, not stolen. Though apparently quite a bit of glassware has gone missing already 😳 Guess we love it,...
Read moreCame in on Friday 9/10/24 for Lunch, specifically for the new $1/ea Party Wings. Sat at the Bar.
Pictured is 12 Old Bay Party Wings. $12. Wings were great. Heavy on the Old Bay Seasoning but as someone born and raised in Maryland, no issue. But could definitely understand if someone else said they were over seasoned. May want to take that into consideration. Plentiful and solid Blue Cheese. Great alternative for those who do not like Jumbo Wings, but they do have $2/ea Jumbo Wings available.
Probably my third or fourth meal from Stones Throw Brewing, including Brunch. First review though. Always been solid, good food but nothing spectacular with the exception of the Fries which are delicious. Average prices.
Only serve their Beer. No domestic bottles. Standard liquor selection, believe $6 for a well drink which is kind of pricey for the area. Happy Hour is only on certain days. They are running a special during College Football season where as long as a SC Team wins on Saturday, Party Wings are $0.50/ea on Mondays. Best Wing deal in the area.
They have a Bloody Mary Mix I’ve never heard of (pictured) that tastes phenomenal. Full disclosure, didn’t get a drink but Bartender gave me a sample of the Mix. At least it’s another option to Zing Zang, which they have too.
Great atmosphere in Goose Creek. Nice open Bar especially on a Spring/Fall day when the doors are open is great.
Bar service has always been great. Friendly Staff. I’m sure I’ll be back...
