My kids recommended we try Azul Tequila for dinner last night. My husband and I had never heard of it but we love Mexican food so we decided to give it a try. It's right next to the white church near USM in Gorham. There was plenty of on-street parking, even on a Friday night. The place is big with a nice bar to the left as you go in, brightly painted decor and well-lit interior. Our kids handed us a menu to look over and we placed our dinner orders at the counter. Then we went to find our seats. My kids are all over 21 so they and my husband went to the bar and ordered drinks. Huge margaritas were brought to our table with hardly any wait time at all. We had a regular one, a strawberry one, and two blue raspberry ones. I did have a taste of the blue raspberry margaritas and I will say, for me, it was far too strong. I did love the presentation though. Our dinners arrived so quickly! I don't think we waited even 5 minutes before we were brought everything. We had quesadillas, chicken fajitas, steak tacos, chips and salsa, taco birra which I had never had and will definitely be getting the next time we go! The steak is like no other I have had at restaurants around here. It was cooked perfectly, tender, and delicious, and there was so much! It often seems restaurants tend to be a little skimpy when it comes to the steak, but not here. My chicken fajita was so flavorful and colorful, using both red and green peppers. Serving size was perfect, not too much, not too little. And, of course, we had to try the desserts so we got one of each, the churro, the flan, and the sopaipillas. They barely got to the table before they were all devoured. We had such a wonderful time there. The staff is friendly and super efficient. Thank you for such a delicious dinner. We will...
Read moreThis was my first visit. We chose a table and waited a bit for our waitress. She took our drink order and got it wrong. I asked for an appetizer but it wasn't in the menu on the table and she had to "check". It was a new appetizer and she wasn't aware. She went to help the numerous other tables and a different person took our meal order. After a few mins our dinner arrived. The waitress did not deliver our meal but came back just as the appetizer hit the table. I wanted to go out and enjoy my dinner. Not be rushed out the door. I understand that they were understaffed for the number of patrons but that doesn't mean customers should feel rushed. Again I'm not complaining about having to wait. I understand. They just didn't seem to have it together or care, which was seen in the appetizer as it was mostly over cooked. When we went to pay our bill it was even more clear why our experience was so awful. The young woman waiting our table was also the bartender. Bad decision. I will give it another try because the food that wasn't...
Read moreMy family and I moved here a little over a month ago and are trying some of the local restaurants. Seeing all of the wonderful reviews I’m not sure if we just went on an off night but we have not had mexican food this bad in a very long time. We ordered a taco salad, burrito and a taco with a side of chips and salsa with three different meats for curbside pickup. The pork and ground beef were exceptionally dry, the beef was actually crunchy. The chicken was okay and was the best seasoned of the three but still bland compared to what we are used to. The shell for my taco salad was burnt. The toppings were cooked or made okay but lacked flavor. The chips were fine, nice and salty, but the salsa was straight up tomato. I saw a few pieces of cilantro floating in it but could not taste any. Jarred supermarket salsa has more flavor than what we received. I wasn’t expecting authentic Mexican flavors but this was a big disappointment, which is unfortunate since it’s five...
