Chief Ice Cream — Restaurant in Goshen

I moved to Goshen 3 years ago and heard rave reviews of the Chief. Could hardly wait until it opened the following Spring so I could check it out. I was soooo disappointed. I ordered lemon and it was VERY sweet and tasted nothing like lemon. Same with raspberry. I have found that true of most of their fruit flavors. Just too sweet. However, the consistency and quality of their ice cream is second to none so I kept trying. And this year I (duh!) discovered vanilla! In a turtle sundae, to be specific. Just about the most delicious treat I've ever had! Their prices are reasonable. That's what blows my mind. I would expect to pay much more for home made ice cream of this quality. The hot fudge, the caramel, the pecans ..... alll were absolutely wonderful. That is my new "to die for "...

This is a legendary place in our area and it lives up to the hype. The ice cream is incredible. There's literally probably 7 different standard flavors on the mix I am willing to switch and that doesn't even to mention how good the special flavors our. My all time favorite special flavor is Lemon with Nerds, but also really like the cotton candy. There isn't a ton of parking, but we didn't have trouble finding a spot on a Saturday around 6:30, but it also wasn't super hot. We only waited maybe 5 minutes in line and servings came out quickly after we ordered. They have a little seating on picnic tables in the back, but not many (maybe 5 or 6). My daughter wanted to surprise me with an ice cream cake.....She didn't want a typical supermarket kind....so she specially ordered one here.....Top layer vanilla, bottom chocolate, hot fudge and topped with coconut.....NO CAKE.....Of course there were NO pictures on their website but I thought everyone knows that an ice cream CAKE comes with CAKE.....Nope.....NO CAKE.....just 2 slabs of ice cream piled on top of each other!!!...To be fair, the ice cream was tasty...BUT it was NOT a cake!!!....We paid $35 for these slabs of ice cream but NO CAKE.....It was my 72nd birthday and now I'm very disappointed...She wants to get me a cake from a real bakery but I'm not interested now....You're NOT my...
