My wife and I have eaten here over the years every so often. We had a date night and decided on... you guessed it - Venturi! We called ahead to see how full they were (knowing they do not accept reservations) and we were informed by a guy on the phone that there was about a 5 minute wait for 2 people. Since we live less than 5 min away, we quickly headed there and informed the employee of our plans. Once we arrived we were greeted by a young gal at the bar and we said a table for two and then she said it was going to be about a 45 minute wait. There was no line when we arrived so I thought that seemed odd. So I mentioned our phone call with the other person. The hostess copped an attitude and sarcastically said something like "well that person didn't check with me first". She was abrupt, not smiling and seemed annoyed by her job - and I'll add that she scarcely made eye contact. Maybe she was having a bad day, but it was NOT what I would expect from a higher quality restaurant. She asked if we wanted to sit outside, well it was raining! My wife and I looked at eachother and decided we didnt want to wait that long. The umbrellas are not sufficient. They don't cover the chairs entirely. I was wet. Perhaps larger umbrellas would make the experience acceptable. We ordered 2 pizzas and my wife and I both ordered one mixed drink. We had 2 slices of bread with tomatoes as an appetizer. (Bruscetta with heirloom tomatoes). 15 minutes later our food was brought to us. This is what really gets me... our bill (after a reasonably sized tip) was $95. Yes the food is good, but to me I feel so unfulfilled walking away from venturi. The quality is great and it seems that they source legitimate ingredients - but personally I feel unbalanced and unsatisfied for the price. Also my pizza (capricciosa) was beyond over salted. I had to box it up because I couldn't finish it. I bet there was 2000mg of sodium in one slice. Overall I felt unsatisfied and disappointed this last visit. However, the food presentation is on-point. So good job with that. If you don't bat an eye spending $100 - $150 for this type of experience, this is a good...

I really don't like leaving a 3 star rating because this seems like a family-owned business and I want to support that, but I also want to be honest.
The pizza crust under the toppings was paper thin (I know it is usually thin, and typically like that) and the pizza was much too floppy and wet to pick up. The outside crust was quite thick, so there was a lot less surface area for toppings. If they had made the crust a bit thicker on the bottom and the outside crust a bit smaller, then maybe the ratios would have worked a bit better. More toppings, easier to handle crust, etc. The pizza was also quite a bit more blackened than other pizzas I've had of this style. The steam from the hot pizza on the tray and the blackened bottom made for messy, wet, sooty fingers. They also don't cut the pizzas, which I found really odd. I watched people struggling to cut their pizzas with the serated butter knives they give out (I wouldn't call them steak knives, so that's the best description I can think of) so we asked for a pizza cutter. It was weird to cut the pizza on the glass/marble-like platter, and the pizza was bigger than the platter so we had to tear the crust with our fingers since we didn't have a surface to cut on.
That being said, the quality of the ingredients seemed high, and they were tasty. I just wish there was more. One of our pizzas had meat that was about the volume of one meatball spread out over the whole pizza. The prosciutto on another pizza was very scant, only a couple of bites. The mascarpone on one was barely 2 or 3 tablespoons, I would say, and certainly wasn't enough on a pizza with no other cheese. They did honor requests though, which was nice.
All in all, the staff and service was wonderful but the pizza was not the best. Good quality ingredients, but very sparse. The price was very high for...
Read moreOk first off let’s get this out of the way. If your experience of pizza is Pizza Hut or Little Caesar’s, you won’t understand what they are trying to do here. But I’m not sure they really understand what’s they are trying to do. A really hot brick oven pizza with fresh toppings and made in house dough IS really the start of a amazing pizza. But what happens here is it is bogged down by some things. Your pizza will at times have way to much crust, you’ll fine the toppings very minimal. Now that’s not a big deal for a good quality that’s of decent size. But for some reason they can’t get the pricing or the portions right. One can go to Italy and get a simple pizza .. Sauce, cheese, and fresh oregano and it will blow one of these pizza away! And it will fill you up! It was sad me and my mom and hubs both had to order two pizza each just to fill ourselves. It’s a shame really. If the owner would travel and experience culture outside of his normal influence he could really make this place a major mark on the map for travelers. So why two stars instead of one? Well they are trying and I think their motive and heart are in the right place I really do. Another reviewer made mention about mask and I will first say live how you want. But it is shocking for me as a traveler to see how a business can be so self centered that they can’t even see what is going on outside of their own lives. Most the world has opened up months and months ago. I’m sorry all you see is “deep in-depth studies “ that are 2 min clips on your social media streams that are informing you on your decisions. Step out and go see what’s going on in the world for yourself and see people have been living again and enjoy life for longer than you think. Sorry I was side tracked. This is worth a first time visit. Just make sure you politely, after your meal is done voice in a positive way what changes could be done to improve the eating...
