I started shopping at Chow hound about 3 months ago when I found out they carry the food I purchase for both my dog and cat. They have a pretty decent selection for my pets needs, despite the higher cost I like supporting them. However, what makes me continue to shop at other stores/ purchase online is honestly their customer service. I do not look forward to going in there. The first time I went into the store, an employee snapped at me because I walked my dog by the cat cages. It was my first time ever there so I wasn’t aware that was an issue until she said that I wasn’t allowed to walk by the cage. But due to the flow of the store I’m not sure where else I was supposed to walk towards the register. I then proceeded to check out and when they gave me my total I asked if there was a rewards program. The cashier then sighed and said “there is, but it’s a lot of work to get signed up” and proceeded to tell me my total. I was dumbfounded. That’s literally your job! It was 9 in the morning and no one else was in the store. The next time I went in I was adamant on signing up. I am spending a good amount on pet food I should be able to receive rewards. The cashier signed me up in under a minute… Since then every time I go in the cashiers are always blunt, don’t say hi, don’t ask what you need, last week I walked up and said hi and was instantly cut off with- “rewards? Insert it on the pin pad.” I just wish their service was a...
Read moreYou could tell most of the staff is pretty lazy. Lately the vacuum in the washing stall doesn't have anywhere to hook it so it just flops around the room scaring the poo out of my dog. As per one employee suggestion a year or so ago I always turn it on as soon as we get in there so he's not as startled by it. Lately I haven't even been able to drive him very well because he has startled from the vacuum thing. Also you would think the staff would have a piedmont rather than having a customer who spends goods amounts of money get on the floor with paper towels and washing urine with their bare hands. Kind of crazy to me. I would even rather have him up and wash it up with a mop as the customer. But to have me on the ground cleaning up a giant puddle because there's a line in my dog is standing there and he was somebody else marked. He has literally never peed inside of our house one time, he even flew from Greece to the United States and didn't pee the whole flight because there was nothing to mark inside of his kennel. As soon as we got out of the airport and found a tree he let loose. I feel like this location is getting worse and worse. I'm going to just check out the pet supplies next time he needs a bath and I feel like wasting money on...
Read moreSo I recently reviewed Chow Hound in Grand Haven, and had given it 3 stars. Today I have edited my review and gave it 1 star. While my dog was outside at 6:45AM this morning she had a run in with a skunkand was sprayed in the face and her right side. I went to Chow Hound shortly after they opened to get my dog washed while purchasing special shampoo from them. A employee went to pet my dog and I stated (I would not pet her she was sprayed by a skunk this morning. I then proceded to was my dog a few times, removing 80% of the smell. As I went to pay the lady at the checkout stated her manager had heard that my dog was sprayed. Then she stated her manager said if it happens again to come in around 7PM so other dog washers don't have to smell my dog. I think it's funny the manager told the employee to me instead of the Manager. We'll two things...1 it is a DOG WASH after all, to clean dirty dogs. And 2nd. I'll bring my dog rather skunk sprayed or just dirty in anytime I want to wash them...after all a paying customer is a...
