Last night was the biggest flaw I've experienced in this place out of 3 total time I went there. Makes me think based on how it was handled that we were lucky 2 other times. I came for a very specific meal last night which was brought up to the server, but yet I received a different meal which the other server actually noticed and brought it back to the kitchen fix it. No biggie at that point since there are only a couple of people more, although the other party already got their food already. So they brought my plate back(not freshly redone as it wasn't hot) but the pineapple that was missing in the first place was just dumped out of can on the plate and covered with my old food, it was cold. So I knew that they didn't cook it thinking I wouldn't notice. That is an insult and cheating. What else are they cheating on. So I sent it back and had my mood ruined as I felt violated, I gave them a chance to fix it ones. The server apologized 3 times and kept saying "I wish I could do something as a server" which still doesn't resolve an issue. The other are, I didn't, and my experience was ruined between her and the cooks(owners). She had the guts to tell me like it was a favor that she is not going to charge me. Of course she wouldn't, I didn't eat it. She shouldn't have charged us at all for this experience as a way to take responsibility for such experience. Instead she charged for the other meal and the drinks. No one bothered to resolve it. The fact that the owners think that it's just going to fly that way, its an issue at the root. I will not...
Read moreMy husband and adult kids were excited to try this place because they have a lot of vegan options, and we love Thai food. I really appreciate restaurants that make the effort to offer vegan food and try to support them. Unfortunately, the food here was awful. It was so bland, we all used a lot of chili oil and soy sauce to give it some flavor. We were the first customers of the day, yet they were already behind. The waiter was rude, never checked on us or refilled water, and made several different excuses for why the food took so long. I received my food long after my husband and son, and my daughter didn't get hers until long after that. We were told they'd accidentally put egg in her first dish and had to remake it. Then, after she finally got her food, she found they'd put egg in it again, so she couldn't eat it! They did reduce the bill, but as a former waitress, I don't think we should have had to pay at all. The only reason we ate any of it was because we were on a day-trip, super hungry, and didn't know where else to go. To make matters worse, I got really sick a few hours after eating there, and I'm sure it was that gross food. If you're ever in GR, try Lai...
Read moreA traveler's retrospective and review. My taste in Thai food are well honed from years living in Thailand. As I write this belated review I'm swinging in a hammock in rural Chaiyaphum, Thailand, but I've lived in Bangkok, and Chiang Mai, as well as traveled the SE Asia region. I was looking for a price comparison near my summertime city, Muskegon, to what I pay in this Thai village for the same fare, Pad Graphao moo, spicy stir fried basil pork. I was also looking for where I can get Thai food when I return to the Lakeshore from my rather long annual snowbird migration. A Google maps search turned up Mama's, and my memory of a meal there was toggled. The Som Tom lacked the flavor fish sauce imparts to palm sugars unique sweetness, and the expected Thai chili hit missed. I ordered spicy. It wasn't. The spring rolls were average, the dipping sauce too. As I was checking out I mentioned the salad was not what I was used to. The reply was "We have to dumb down the flavor for local taste, or people wouldn't eat here." I've driven by several times since. Oh incidentally that Pad Graphao moo, spicy stir fried basil pork with rice, is $1.42 in the village, for a huge take...
