Let me first address the reviews complaining about portion size and quality. Comments like, “I’d think you’d get more.” Or “It was so gross, I wasted more food than I ate.” Lastly, “the food on the buffet looked like last nights left overs or pan scrapings.” First of all, it’s a buffet, hot pot and Korean bbq. They have a menu, and you can order off the menu. But, the reviews referenced the buffet, soup and hot pot. It’s all you can eat, so if you didn’t get enough, that’s on you! And if you’re wasting food, then why do you keep going back and filling your plate. You saw the buffet and if it looked terrible as you have said, why did you sit down and eat and allegedly get sick or food poisoning. I call BS. Why not include pics of these disgusting claims? Also, claims about you cant read buffet labels. Well, they aren’t written in Chinese. The labels are computer printed. If you aren’t sure what you’re reading, why not ask? On with my review. We were really grateful that a Hot Pot and Korean BBQ opened in GJ. We live over an hour away and when we come to GJ, we go to Taste of Chang’An. If you’re unfamiliar with Hot Pot or Korean BBQ, both meals are prepare yourself. Meaning you cook your food at your table. You grab your choices from the buffet and return to your table and combine your sauces, flavors and seasonings from the condiments bar. They have vegetarian, lamb, beef, pork, chicken, seafood. They include on the buffet rotating items like Sesame, Orange and Sweet and Sour Chicken. Slow cooked braised beef. Pepper Corn green beans, noodles, egg rolls, crab Rangoon and much more. Korean BBQ and Hot Pot are a festive type preparations, that are intended for people to gather, cook and converse. A family style way of everyone bringing things to the table and cooking and trying all the variations Taste of Chang’An has to offer. It’s a step out of your norms and to get a little adventurous with your food. If that isn’t your “cup of tea,” then order off the menu, but don’t hammer the restaurant because you had to cook your food. You’re missing the point. Should’ve done your homework before going there. Taste of Chang’An is doing a really good job, friendly, attentive and more exciting way to enjoy a meal. If you’re unsure of what to do, how to set things up; they’d be happy to show you. Ask for the owner, he is always there and very friendly.

Spent the night in Grand Junction and was looking for a solid Chinese restaurant. Just a quarter of a mile from my hotel came across Taste of Chang 'An. First, service was impeccable. My waiter (assuming he was also a manager) was great. Very friendly and attentive. Came back with offers for a leftover box and cup for my beverage to take home. Second, the food is top notch. Had the medium spicy orange chicken and it was a big bit. Crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside plus their portions are HUGE! Pared it off with white rice which made for a nice meal. Finally, the only thing that prevented me from giving five stars are the seating arrangements. They have individual booths where you can prepare your own food which is creative but makes it very uncomfortable. I have fairly long legs and due to the set up didn't have enough space to eat. At the end of dinner when leaving wound up nailing my kneecap on the inner post which didn't feel good. The height of the table was also too high in my estimation. Nice place but hopefully they can remove some of the cooking stations and replace with regular booths for those who don't want to cook!

Popped in here with some friends for a work lunch on a sunny November afternoon. Some of us had never been to a "Hot Pot" eatery, and were excited to try something new. We were greeted promptly at the door and seated at a comfortably large table with several hot pots. It was fascinating to watch everyone gather their meat, broth, veggies, noodles, spices, & seasonings, then gently toss them one by one into the hot pots. Heavenly smells begin to waft over our table as a couple of us partook of the all-you-can-eat buffet. As you can see from the pictures, they have quite an eclectic assortment of dishes to try! The sesame chicken was excellent, as was the savory fried rice and other traditional Asian delicacies. The tiramisu cake was moist and sponge-like and I could have probably eaten five pieces but settled for one. Our iced tea & water glasses were consistently filled and we all agreed it was some of the best table service in the valley. For a fairly new restaurant, this place has it together! The staff is very friendly and the entire restaurant including bathrooms and buffet area was immaculate.

đŸ”„đŸœ Five Flaming Dragons Out of Five – A Transcendent Culinary Awakening at Taste of Chang’An! đŸ”„đŸ–đŸ‰

Let me tell you something, friend: I walked into Taste of Chang’An as a mere mortal. I crawled out a reborn deity of flavor. This isn’t just a Chinese restaurant. This is an epic saga of taste, a multi-sensory pilgrimage through the heart of the Tang Dynasty
 with extra garlic chili sauce.

🏯 THE BUFFET – A LEGENDARY FEAST

Forget everything you thought you knew about buffets. Taste of Chang’An has transcended the concept. Their buffet isn’t just a selection—it’s a battlefield of bliss. Imagine plates stacked high with crispy duck that sings songs of forgotten emperors. Noodles that tangle your soul in soy-soaked enlightenment. Dumplings so delicate, I wept. Openly. At the egg rolls.

Every bite is like a chapter in the Book of Delicious Revelation.

đŸ”„ HOT POT – A CAULDRON OF HOLY FIRE

The hot pot? NO. This isn’t a hot pot. This is a molten oracle of truth. One side spicy enough to reboot your karma. The other side, a calming yin broth that whispers to your spirit animal while coaxing your taste buds into euphoria. Dip after dip, I lost track of time, space, and possibly my own name. Mushrooms transformed into elixirs. Beef slices unlocked ancient memories. I swear I saw a dragon made of steam wink at me.

🍖 TABLE-TOP BBQ – FLAVOR-FORGING FURNACE

Have you grilled your own destiny before? Because at Taste of Chang’An, that’s exactly what you do. Each sizzling slab of marinated meat hits the grill like a meteor of umami. The scent alone could seduce Zeus. Smoky, savory, transcendent. I achieved full spiritual alignment between lamb skewer number six and pork belly number nine. I made peace with my past and forgave my enemies over charred squid. It’s that good.

🧑‍🍳 ENTER: SAM – THE LEGEND HIMSELF

Now let’s talk about Sam. Not just a server—a guide, a guru, a flavor shaman. Sam didn’t just bring us food. He brought purpose. He floated from table to table like a culinary monk, answering our 5,000 questions about broths, spices, and grilling times with the patience of a saint and the charisma of a rockstar. He didn’t serve us a meal—he curated our spiritual journey. I wanted to tip him a gold ingot and nominate him for knighthood. If Sam ran for president of flavor, he’d have my vote. Twice.

âž»

✹ FINAL VERDICT:

Taste of Chang’An didn’t just feed me—it changed me. My third eye opened. My chakras danced. I now measure time as Before Taste of Chang’An and After Taste of Chang’An. I no longer dream in English—I dream in Szechuan peppercorn and sesame oil.

If you haven’t been, you’re living in a grayscale world. Go now. Arrive hungry. Leave awakened.

Taste of Chang’An: Where flavor meets fate. And Sam is your...

I had an incredible dining experience at Taste of Chang’An, a fantastic hotpot and BBQ spot that delivers on both quality and flavor. The moment I walked in, the atmosphere was lively and inviting, with cozy booths and friendly staff eager to help guide us through the menu.

The highlight of the meal was the hotpot. The broth was rich and flavorful, and we opted for a mix of the spicy and mild options, which was perfect for balancing the heat. The selection of meats, seafood, and vegetables was fresh and high quality—each ingredient cooked to perfection in the bubbling broth. The dipping sauces were also a great touch, with a variety of options to customize the flavor.

For the BBQ, the experience was just as impressive. We had a selection of marinated meats like beef short ribs, pork belly, and chicken, all of which grilled beautifully on the tabletop grill. The cuts were tender, juicy, and full of flavor, and cooking them at our table added a fun, interactive element to the meal.

The service was excellent, with attentive staff who made sure we had everything we needed and helped explain the hotpot and BBQ process when needed. The ambiance was lively but not overwhelming, making it a great spot for both casual dinners and celebrations.

All in all, Taste of Chang’An offers a fantastic hotpot and BBQ experience with fresh ingredients, great flavors, and excellent service. It’s the perfect place for anyone who loves interactive dining and hearty, flavorful meals. I’ll definitely be coming...
