I stopped in here on 30 Aug 2023 around 1:30 pm. I haven't had Wendy's in quite some time and since we were traveling back to Las Vegas, I wanted something quick and easy, and nothing too far off from I-70.
I was really disappointed to hear that Wendy's no longer serves the grilled chicken sandwich, so I ordered the grilled chicken wrap in lieu of the aforementioned. The wrap was just ok. According to the description, this wrap is supposed to be, "Juicy, herb-marinated grilled chicken breast, shredded cheddar cheese and crispy romaine drizzled with a creamy ranch sauce and all wrapped up in a warm tortilla." Unfortunately for me, the tortilla was not warm at all. Also, I know that the item doesn't specify melted cheese or anything, but I was hoping that the cheese would be at least somewhat soft.
The real goodness was the fries and my Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger. Wendy's fries will always be up there in ranking next to a couple other fast food fries (I won't mention it here). I wish I would've taken a picture of the Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger because it was prepared so neat and perfect - I was hungry and took a couple bites before realizing I should've taken a picture.
My wife ended up ordering the Dave's Single for the first time in her life and stated it was better than she expected. We both wanted to order the Loaded Nacho Single Cheeseburger and share it, but it was too much food for us at that point, so we ended up trying the Strawberry Frosty for the first time, which by the way, was magnificent. I've always loved Wendy's Frosties before the strawberry flavor came out...it was refreshing and hit the spot after munching on their wonderful fries.
Unfortunately, I didn't obtain any names of the employees at this restaurant, but I only had interactions with three of them. The young male working/training the new employee at the front register was great. He did a phenomenal job training the employee and being patient during the process. The young female that was being trained, did an adequate job with our order and although she wasn't friendly at all (which I thought most, if not all new employees were always super friendly and excited), the end goal was met (getting our order accurate). The real highlight was the young female (losing/lost her voice) working the drive-thru and helping out the employees at the main counter. Her friendliness and initiative to go that extra mile to help her fellow co-workers were duly noted. I was highly impressed because most people would just stand around these days if not told what to do...but she didn't. She quickly went over to the other employees and helped prepare our Frosties without hesitation. She also waved to us from the drive-thru window as we were leaving the area, heading back towards the Interstate - wish there were more workers like her.
The biggest downfall to this restaurant was the cleanliness (or lack thereof). Considering that the restaurant wasn't busy at all, I was shocked to see the tables were dirty and chairs not pushed in. Overall, a decent place to visit and grab a quick bite. I don't know when the next time I'll visit a Wendy's restaurant, but if it's soon, I'll be sure to try the Loaded Nacho Single...
Read moreI had the single best fast food experience of my life here. I walked in, feeling a little peckish. I approached the counter to order, and the helpful young woman asks what she can get me. The following exchange took place:
Me: Could I please have a crispy chicken sandwich and a value fry and that'll be all? Her: For here or to go? Me: To go, but I don't need a bag. I hate creating waste. Her, clearly baffled by my answer: Do... you want a tray? Me: No, just no bag, please. Her: ??? Me, sensing her desperation: Just...put it in the bag. Her, looking visibly relieved: Okay. What's the name on the order? Me: Chris. Thank you.
A few minutes pass and I heard the following exchange take place near the fryer behind the counter:
Man: I mean, if he wants to save a bag, great, I'm all for that. Her: I don't...I don't understand, but okay. Her: Chris!
So I round the corner of the wall to find a cook, probably a manager, holding my naked sandwich in his latex gloved hand. She has my value fries, looking unsure.
Her: Are you...sure? Me, unable to control my laughter: Yeah, this is great. I'm just gonna eat it right away anyway. Thanks! Both: Thank you. Have a nice day...?
All I asked for was no bag, not a naked sandwich, but I couldn't bring myself say anything after they handed me my food. It was the single funniest fast food experience ever. Oh, and the food was piping hot and delicious! Great job, Grand Junction Wendy's!
For anyone reading this, please make "to go, but no bag" a...
Read moreOrdered in the app and when we got to the window they said their frosty machine was broken, but they had already taken our payment; I showed them in my credit card app that it had been charged despite their claims otherwise. I also showed them that in the actual wendy's app the order showed that it could not be cancelled. After about 5 minutes of back and forth the manager came out and said that she couldn't refund our payment; had no control over the app. I told her I thought that was a bit unreasonable given that I had paid them for product she wasn't providing. She said, sorry - she can't do anything about it. Offered that I could call the number in the app which I did and they said they were closed. 15 minutes of futzing trying to send them a message it finally accepted my e-mail and I got no response at all. So, I had to wait for the charge to post and then file a credit card dispute which I did. Whoever trained or supervises this manager should be ashamed. A case like this should be open and shut- refund the customer, but instead I had to waste a whole bunch of time filing a dispute. Shame on you guys. This used to be a favorite spot for the kids when we needed a quick lunch; but I'm sorry Horizon Wendy's - we're breaking up. Over a few bucks. I just can't believe they would refuse to provide a refund when they can't...
