On The Border Mexican Grill & Cantina — Restaurant in Grand Prairie

Super disappointed in the service we received last night. My family and I walked in at 8:45 p.m.—the sign on the door clearly says the restaurant closes at 10:00. We were seated within five minutes, but it took another seven before a young lady with a nose piercing came to take our drink order. When my husband ordered a house margarita, we were told the bartender had already cleaned the bar and put away the salt and sugar, so he couldn’t get salt on the rim.

Another server, Joydan, brought our drinks and then took our order. While we waited for our food, no one checked on us—not for refills, not for more chips—even though our chip bowl was empty and my tea was already half gone. When our food finally arrived, it was brought out by a man I assumed was the manager. We had to ask him for more chips, which he did bring.

We weren’t even halfway through our meal when Joydan came back with our check in hand and asked if we wanted dessert. My husband commented, “Well, I guess not, since you already brought the check,” to which she claimed it was for another table—though we were her only table. My son even noticed her standing at a computer with the company logo bouncing around the screen, pretending to “print” our check before finally bringing it to the table without saying a word.

My husband placed his credit card on top of the receipt, where it sat untouched for over 20 minutes. No one came near our table. He eventually had to get up and find the manager himself at the front to ask to be cashed out. A few minutes later, Joydan appeared at the hostess stand where we were waiting. When my husband asked who he was supposed to tip, since three different people had waited on us, neither she nor the manager could answer.

Waited almost 40 minutes for a to go order for 2. Tacos. Food came to me less than warm. Same person who took my order asked me of if I was waiting on anything or if I was there for a pickup. Basically clueless. Trash on the floor. Chips stale as they just sit out in a dark corner. Initially gave me a half a bag of chips, had to ask for another bag. Manager just looks like he stands around that's about it. Looks over staffed and for nothing. Dude waiting with me received his order wrong. I love OTB but this certain one is definitely not it, would have rather gone to any other food place in that shopping center and you should too. ALSO got home and my orders were wrong, did not feel like going back as I was already upset. Please close your doors and reevaluate your business as currently it friggin sucks. There's a reason on a Friday night not many people were in that establishment as that should have been signal #1 to leave and go somewhere else. Oh and how the heck do you sit at the Bar for 40 minutes and see the bartender behind the bar for every bit of 5 minutes or less? And not once asked if I wanted something to drink? Do you not want a potential sale? A tip? Nothing. What a joke. Staff sucks. The kitchen blasting music like it's a club in there. Husband and I went to this location twice and never again. Went for the first time a few months ago and the place was empty so we thought the service would be great, but it wasn't. The food was pretty good which made up for it so we thought maybe we just didn't have a great server. We went again last week towards the end of happy hour and the place was packed. Sat next to the soda fountain behind the bar. Server seemed nice and took our drink order promptly. Table was sat next to us and the server took their drink order. Few minutes later I noticed our drinks sitting near the bar melting (swirls). 10 minutes later the server finally literally got the drinks turned around and put them on our table and took our order. Didn't say anything, but was irritated. 10 minutes later the people next to us get their food. 15 minutes later people next to us are almost done eating their food and we haven't even gotten ours. Meanwhile since we are sitting so close to the kitchen, I can tell that all they are doing back there is reheating food which really shouldn't take 30+ minutes. Also, since we were sitting so close to the kitchen we got to witness the immaturity of some of the staff; goofing around, chasing each other, and even KISSING in plain sight. Finally our food arrives and it's room temperature and not seasoned at all. Server didn't even bother coming back again to ask how things were nor to refill our drinks.
