We walked in for a pick up today and the whole atmosphere was just weird. Since there were only 2 tables with diners in the restaurant, it feels open but the decorations are just plain. If that's the way the restaurant owners want their restaurant to look like, I do respect that since that's their taste. There was no one greeted us as we walked in, completely clueless as to where we were supposed to pick up the order or if we needed to speak to someone since this was our first time visiting the restaurant. There was a lady sitting at the counter getting the utensils ready but she wasn't speaking to nor greeting us the entire time we were there, only to get up and walked to the kitchen to call someone out after I stood there waiting for a while. In the meantime, I saw the waitress attending one of the tables, with her oversize jacket falling down on one side and she just kept it like that. I'm sorry but that doesn't bring a professional image to me as a customer. After a minute or two came the owner. Still no greeting nonetheless eye contact. The whole pick up situation was just awkward. It could be better, a lot better especially at around 12:30pm, only 1.5 hours after the restaurant opens. I just wanted a bowl of healthy soup for my dad since he just got out of surgery, hoping Pho Duc will live up to the standards of Asian cuisine. The bag the owner handed to me was surprisingly lightweight. I peeked into the bowl after I brought it home and there was barely any noodles. There's not much in the bowl. I don't remember much veggies at all on the outside. My dad said the pho overall doesn't taste good, and he was hungry at the time. We will personally come back to try the dishes ourselves to be fair before giving any feedbacks in regards to the food.
This is a response to the response below.
Thank you for noticing that my dad took a while to go to the restroom (it would take me 1/3 of his time to go to the restroom) and wishing him a speedy recovery. It's a good thing that you have cameras to see how unprofessional you guys are. I did not know that a restaurant can be so silent, from the worker to the waitress to the owner himself. No greetings. No smile (even when the waitress walked towards my way). No eye contact. First time impression is definitely a fail. Yes, I walked up to the register because apparently someone doesn't really want to acknowledge us being there. I must have missed your publicly posted sign about picking up in the drive thru... somewhere. Maybe you can have your receptionist giving us pickup instructions while she was at it? If you'd have said that it took 30 seconds for the lady to get up and went to the kitchen to call someone, then I would have agreed. It definitely was not 30 seconds until the owner came out, sluggishly. If you did, kudos to you. I'm a patient person and I'm expected to wait until someone came out. It gives me time to observe the surroundings. It was publicly posted by the owner's wife that they wanted an American way but authentic food considering his family is in the restaurant industry. I'm sorry but I don't see an American way at your restaurant besides the alcohols and wines. At least I'll get some eye contact at other Asian places. Don't get me started on how black your pho's soup looks but again, I wasn't the one that was eating it so no judgement on how the food taste...
Read moreWhen you walk in you choose where you would like to sit, I came in for dinner and I sat by the window cause the lighting in there is so dim you can barely see your food. There is only 1 boy and 1 girl working the whole entire floor. We waited about 25 mins for our food to come out and the food was not even hot. I ordered a Thai tea but it tasted so water down since it was made with powder. There is no Thai tea flavor anywhere and they just add hot water to diluted the powder and squeeze some suspicious white stuff out of a squeeze bottle into the cup then add a ton of ice.The worst Thai tea I had ever tasted in my life. Disgusting. The pho broth was not even hot when it came to my table, the broth taste straight up like boiled star anise. where is the flavor, the meat was so rough I couldn't even eat it. It needed another 14 hours to boil. I barely had any noodles in my bowl. The shrimp spring roll was so sad, it barely had anything in there, barely any noodles or cucumber. It was so flimsy. Now let's get to the cold noodles dish, it was so sad as well. Barely any noodles, like a pinch of noodles the cucumber was so soggy not even crispy at all. The bun bo guo had too much oil and the bone was so tough, it needed more hours to boil. Pork banh mi was a disappointment, it barely had anything in the sand which. Over all I was very disappointed, I had asked for some fish sauce but the girl forgot about it and it never came. The stuffed chicken wings was filled with some suspicious meat. This is a family own restaurant but they could up their game in authentic taste and flavors. In the end, I will not be returning to eat here. It's a bit pricey too for the lil amount of food...
Read moreI came here twice before about a year ago and it was really good, especially the pho and the stuffed chicken wings. But I came by today with my brother and I feel like the dishes weren’t as good this time around. We ordered the eggrolls which were excellent but our entrees weren’t as impressive. The main thing was the rice seemed different, like it wasn’t jasmine rice, and it was a little bit overcooked. For the price of our meal, rice is usually the first thing that sticks out to me because it’s such a staple in these kinds of dishes and for me it’s just as important as the protein of the meal, if not more. My brother is even more attentive to it, just seeing the plate brought in he could tell the rice looked off. I might be biased because I grew up eating rice but it can honestly make or break a meal for me. My brother ordered the Korean short ribs, and they were chewy, he ended up not being able to chew some of it. The service was also lacking a bit. The guy that served us at first was nice, but he never came to check on us. I ended up walking to the counter to ask for glasses of water. The girl seemed apologetic and I could tell she was the more experienced server, and probably thought the guy had taken care of us. There were only a couple of people in the place so it wasn’t busy by any means. Now for the positives: My shaken filet mignon tasted good, the vegetables that came with the dishes were fresh, and our Thai teas were a good balance between the tea and sweetness. Overall it was an okay meal, but we spent $60 total, so I expected a bit more with the overall consistency and quality...
