Update! Brought my best friend here for her birthday lunch and it was amazing again! 👏🏻 Never disappointed by the food or the service. Everything was super good as always.😁
Wow! I was genuinely surprised by how amazing the food is here. I don't know why this place isn't packed every day. The location is conveniently off 28th Street. There is a good amount of parking available. You can't miss the big crab sign on the front of the building. When you come in the place is very open and well lit. They have booths, tables, and a large bar with seating. I would recommend this place for group dining. They have a lot of interesting wall and ceiling decor. With a giant fake shark hanging from the ceiling when you walk in. It just screams, "This is a fun atmosphere." They play newer music, and it's not too loud. We sat at a booth and were quite comfortable. They have a roll of paper towels ready for you on the table foreshadowing the mess you're about to make. We ordered the Calamari starter and it came out super hot and fresh. The pieces were cooked perfectly and the breading was well balanced. The dipping sauce they come with is interesting, but it compliments the Calamari well. I ordered some of the New England Clam Chowder and it was hands down, the best I've ever had at a restaurant. My only regret is not getting more of it to go. Every bite had clams in it. The base was creamy, the potatoes were cooked perfectly, and the flavor was overall just amazing. For our main, we got the Crabfam Classic to share. It comes with .5lbs of snow crab, .5lbs of shrimp, .5 lbs of sausage, two baked potatoes, and 2 pieces of corn. We got it with just the garlic butter and no seasoning. I am very sensitive to spicy food unfortunately because of my chemo treatments. They did warn us their seasonings are on the spicier side. So if you love hot and spicy, they say they can give you the heat you need. When they bring your scraps bucket and silverware, they also arm you with a pair of nutcrackers, a seafood sheller, a pair of non-latex plastic gloves, a big ole bib, and a very nice wet wipe for when you're finished. They brought out the dish in an inflated plastic bag. Our server gave the bag a couple of good shakes, sending the garlic butter all over the food again. Once open the steam busted out and revealed our piping hot meal. It was absolutely amazing. All the food was cooked perfectly and not overdone. The garlic butter in the bag was so good, giving everything that great flavor. The corn and potatoes were very good as well. As far as price goes, it's very fairly priced. The servings are large and we were both very satisfied and full from our meals. Along with some of my soup, we even had some sausage and a potato left over to take home. They were both super good the next day too. The service was great! When we arrived our server Jojo promptly got us our drinks. Upon returning he kindly explained how the seasoning menu worked, and how to order the build-your-own boil. He kept our glasses full and was very polite. After our food arrived he made sure we were enjoying our meal and had everything we need. I will definitely be returning to dine in the future, especially with family and friends. I'm so glad I live nearby, since I will be ordering...
Read moreMy experience was honestly disappointing. I followed Mr. and Mrs. Crab for MONTHS prior to their opening. Checking every single week to see when they were opening and the day finally came. Not only was I already spreading the word of the new seafood boil spot in town prior to open, I was eager enough to wait an hour to get seated only to receive terrible service. My boyfriend and I waited over 20 minutes before we were even noticed. We sat there and watched tables that got seated after us get their drinks AND order before we had even received our beverages. After finally getting a waitresses attention, it was clear that our table was forgotten about and there was confusion on who was responsible for our table. We let that go as the restaurant just opened and was extremely busy. We proceeded to order with our waitress and not only did we not receive our beverages timely, we were approached another 2 times by our waitress to confirm what our beverages were. At this point we have been sitting there for 30 to 40 minutes with no beverages. While waiting for our beverages, another waitress approached our table and asked us if we were taken care of yet and at least she understood the ridiculousness of our wait and service. She asked our beverages and I watched her go get our beverages and come back within 5 minutes. Our assigned waitress caught the other waitress before she got to our table to get the drinks from her and handed the drinks off herself. So even at the point and confirming our SODAS to our waitress twice now, she did not go get our beverages and instead grabbed them from another waitress. Not only was getting our beverages a hassle, we asked for our extra mild sauce cup for dipping and she asked us 3 times what we still needed and still came back with cayenne pepper in a cup. We never got our mild sauce. I expressed that the service we were receiving was less than satisfactory to the manager there and while I was speaking, our waitress confronted my boyfriend and asked why were we talking to the manager. Which already made the situation uncomfortable in itself. The manager tried to make it right with 15% off of our bill but had the excuse of the restaurant being so busy. Having been a waitress before, the service was not acceptable. When the manager applied the 15% off of our bill, he had the waitress bring the bill back and she AGAIN, confronted us about the situation and stated that she hopes we understand that this was not her table and she was only helping another server and that they are very busy. Mistakes happen and especially when a restaurant is newly opened however, the service was absurd and how it was handled was even worse. We were not looking for a discount like the waitress seemed to have implied we were looking for. We still tipped 10% as a courtesy to the restaurant. We came to spend some money on good seafood and that is just not what we received. We have since retracted our recommendations to Mr. and Mrs. Crab around town and will not...
Read moreMy wife and daughter wanted to try and since we live 40 minutes away we decided to order for take out that way it would be ready when we got there. When we arrived it was not ready. I asked if we could eat at restaurant instead of taking it to go since it was not ready. After some debate We were seated but the takeout order was canceled and we had to reorder. 35 minutes later our food came out Luke warm at best. We DID NOT get everything we ordered and I was served cold Marinara sauce when I had asked for cocktail sauce. Cold Bland rice With absolutely no flavor. I put marinara sauce in my rice to try to add some flavor. when I Opened my second container of Marinara There was mold growing in the center. I immediately felt sick and lost my appetite 🤢 I called a member of staff over to show her. She took it and I watched her bring it to the manager who appeared to just shrug it off. We were done eating at this point since all of our appetites were now ruined. 15 minutes later the waitress brought us our check when I inquired about the spoiled food she asked what she was supposed to do and told me if I liked she would get the manager. YES,the manager walked past us three times before coming over another 15 minutes later. When she did come over and talk to us she pretended like she had no idea what I was talking about. When I informed her that I watched her employee show her the spoiled food she Walked away for Another 15 minutes when she returned she said she saw no other spoiled food and didn't seem to care.I paid my bill of $120 for food that left me...
