TLDR: We love a Ruth’s Chris, and this is the third location we’ve visited together. Food, service, atmosphere was all as expected - that’s a good thing! 😊 Dining with friends before a show at DeVos, We began with cocktails- I forgot to get an image of of the Heineken NA, but they offer it! They also offer Pellegrino in regards to sparkling water, so you don’t have to ruin your stomach lining by drinking Grand Rapids water.😅 We also ordered the Gambler’s Old Fashioned and the Ruby Red Greyhound- both were very good. The ambience was nice- jazz music playing at a good level, and the restaurant was mildly full. The service was good and the servers were friendly and professional. The wine list is fairly extensive- especially the red wine list- which is on par for a steakhouse. For starters, we ordered the lobster bisque- the flavors were spot on- my only complaint is that I wished for more lobster pieces- I only had one 😭. To make up for the lack of seafood 😅, we ordered the Chilled Seafood Tower, which was fantastic. I’m a picky person, and usually seafood towers have oysters or something reminiscent of the texture of
 nvm
but this tower didn’t! Lobster, Alaskan King Crab, jumbo shrimp and colossal lump crab were all that adorned the ice tower, and I very much enjoyed it. For mains, we ordered the Salmon and Shrimp (very delicious- the shrimp were perfectly cooked and the salmon was amazingly tasty), the Petit Filet and Shrimp (cooked to order with equally delicious shrimp), and the Ribeye (my friend was proclaiming his love for this dish while he ate it 😅). Meal accompaniments included the Fire Roasted Corn (not our favorite, but I can see why others would like it) and the sweet potato casserole (deliciously sweet and a reminder of Thanksgiving at Grandma’s house đŸ„°. For dessert, we ordered the special (chef’s selection) Strawberry Shortcake, and a Ruth’s Coffee - a perfect finish to a lovely meal. UPDATE: we visited again in November- he got the filet Oscar style, and I got a fish- not I forgot to photo the menu so I don’t know what it was, but it was delicious!!! He ordered the seasonal dessert which was a berry crumble cheesecake, and I got the bread pudding which was HUGE! Check my photo to see how big it was! Both desserts were scrumptious. I also got a coffee with Bailey’s, which was prepared fantastically.

Ruth’s Chris is an upscale restaurant where are you are treated very well and service is top notch. They definitely strive to make the customer happy. Your drinks are constantly being refilled and The waiter is always around if anything else is needed. That being said, we tried several different items as a family so we could get the full experience. Two of us ordered drinks and they were $15 apiece. The warm bread that you get in the beginning is very good. For the meals, we started with Caesar salad‘s and the ahi tuna appetizer. Both were very very good. The ahi tuna was perfectly seasoned and was one of the favorite items tasted by everybody at the table. Three of us ordered steak. The steaks were extremely tender but I didn’t feel like they were very flavorful. The Chilean sea bass was amazing! It was also seasoned perfectly. The shrimp was good. The sides are family style so the four of us were able to eat a little bit of everything. The sweet potato casserole was the favorite side for everybody! It was so good that it was almost like dessert. The au gratin potatoes were OK. The brussels sprouts tasted good but they were not very tender and the asparagus was OK as well. The baked potato was a very good size potato and it was good. For dessert, we got the chocolate sin cake and the crĂšme brĂ»lĂ©e. The chocolate cake is flourless for those who are looking for gluten-free. It is very good and very chocolatey. It is not a light desert. If you’re looking for something a little lighter, the crĂšme brĂ»lĂ©e is light and very very good. Overall, it was a very nice experience and some of the food is definitely better than anywhere else I have ever had it. I knew it was going to be expensive and I’m OK with that when the food is all impeccable but the four of us did not feel like we just ate a $440 meal(Before tip).

This is an upscale restaurant in the Amway Grand hotel. Unfortunately, it was an underwhelming visit. The least expensive entree is nearly $50 and comes with nothing, which was the value of the gift card I was given. Since it was a steak house I did not want chicken. They had only two choices on the menu that actually were meals (the rest was all Ă  la carte entrees which ensured you would spend a lot to create an actual meal - and keep in mind that many of those entrees far exceed $50) so I went with the $69 petite filet with shrimp package meal. I ordered the steak medium rare. I will say the bread that arrived was tasty. The arugula salad was ok, but there was little on it - two little mini tomatoes and three half rings of onion - and lots of arugula. The steak took a LONG time to arrive. Unfortunately, the steak mostly lacked flavor and tasted rather mealy. It came with three seasoned shrimp that were good however. The mashed potatoes were ok. Dessert came, which was part of the package. The dark chocolate mousse cup looked good on the plate but when I broke into it I found that the cup was only 1/3 filled with chocolate mousse at most and the rest was all whipped cream. Overall, my experience was that this restaurant is overrated and overpriced for what you get. High on style but does not deliver on substance and is definitely not a good value. There are better choices in the upscale restaurant space in my mind. Finally, I had my parking pass validated. It only covered half of the fee even though I parked in the Amway ramp. My experience in the past was that validation in an Amway restaurant meant free parking for a couple of hours while you eat. Given what you spend at Ruth Chris, it seemed cheap.

Ruth’s Chris Steak House is an upscale fine dining establishment with more than 135 restaurants around the world. The Grand Rapids location is situated right inside of the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel in downtown Grand Rapids. When we made our reservation, I made sure to let the hostess know that we’d be dining with a toddler. Going in with a toddler, we were a little apprehensive because we thought he would be too loud and disturb other guests. The service at the restaurant was so awesome that they sat us in a louder section of the restaurant and checked in every so often to see if we were doing alright. Our table had a bright red curved booth, just perfect to hide the energetic toddler and was amazing at somehow lightening the sound of his booming voice.

We ordered the calamari appetizer (couldn’t get the toddler to try it though); asparagus, mashed potatoes, and potatoes lyonnaise for our sides (served family-style); and, of course steaks for dinner. Our toddler had chicken tenders and French fries from their kid’s menu – yes, Ruth’s Chris has a kid’s menu! All of our food was exceptional and it was nice to enjoy the meal as a family. We did have to keep the toddler away from our plates though, because they are delivered piping hot. I’ll admit that it was a bit of a challenge since, of course, all he wanted to do was reach out to grab the plates!

I did, however, have to remove the toddler from the restaurant at one point though. He was just getting a little impatient while waiting for his meal. I quickly scooped him up and headed outside for a few minutes while he calmed down. I returned to the table with a more subdued toddler and managed to avoid disturbing the other patrons too much.

Overall, I’m glad we decided to try a more upscale restaurant with a toddler in tow. We all managed to enjoy our meal without too much of a disturbance from the little one. And if you’ve never had a steak from Ruth’s Chris, you’ve got to give it a try. It’s one of my favorite...

Living in the Grand Rapids Metro Area, you often hear of restaurants to try out when hear of great food and service. This place is one of them. We reservation was at 4:45 PM on Saturday Night, we where one of the first to be seated and looked around the seating area and was spacious and many rooms of tables for over flow. Once we ordered appetizers we picked roasted Brussels Sprouts, Au Gratin Potatoes and Grilled Asparagus as well. Entrees were next on the list, I ordered the 16 oz New York Strip (med) temp with a side of Andouille Sausage Soup. My wife chose the 8oz petite Filet (med) temp and a Harvest Salad. Also we added the Dipping Trio of Sauces. We had time to enjoy to talk and enjoy our appetizers before the entrees arrived, timing was good from the sever and kitchen, Once the entrees arrived they were very hot and silizzing on the plates, they mentioned the oven is 1,000 degrees and plates are 500 degrees once then arrive to the table. For sure be careful around this hot plate cutting up the meat. My New York Trip was spot on medium and flavorful and juicy. I was mistakenly using my butter knife to cut the steak forgetting to use the steak knife, it was that tender not even needing the steak knife. My wife's Petite Filet however was closer to medium well than medium. That being said her steak was still tasty and flavorful as well. Our server (Denette) was spot on with removing plates, adding drinks and offering advice throughout the dinner service. Being it was our Anniversary the kitchen staff made a couple mini dessert cheesecake and a fruit cup a nice touch from them. We ended the meal with dessert, Key Line Pie and Cheesecake. They were a perfect choice to wind down a great experience and a great night out. I would highly recommend this place for a dinner or special occasion. Either way I think you will enjoy your experience...
