Koi Sushi Bar — Restaurant in Grants Pass

All The chefs are very delightful and good at what they do, how ever the Asian woman is always rude and extremely disrespectful, and hangs up on you, and requests you to hurry with your order or call back when you can hurry up..caution your bill, she adds in an extra 10% to your bill for a tip rather you dine in or carry out,then expects you to leave an extra tip, she will actually follow you outside the restaurant and expect you to tip, again check your receipt and be sure to ask for an itemized receipt, or you will not get one. I always tip very well, gave my server 15 dollars cash in hand one time when we dined in, she charged me 10 percent when she brought my bill, I did not know this until later upon asking for an itemized receipt to view later, but she actually followed me out the door towards my car, complaining of why I did not leave a tip, she would not accept at first that I tipped my waiter cash in hand and tried to argue. The food is excellent and so are ALL the cooks and other staff, that is why I keep going back. We drop well over 140.00 every time we go there, and well worth the food, but the experience with the one hostess makes it a rather miserable experience everytime, we continue to look for another descent place that serves good sushi, granted The Rogue sushi on wheels is pretty amazing, but hard to find at times where he is mobile and in different places and different times.. but please remember to check your receipt and be sure to get it itemized.. I don't know about you but I am kinda tired of being ripped off, I also feel it is my choice if I want to tip for a to go order, it is not right to charge me 10% on a togo order and then accept and expect another tip because I should be feeling appreciative for her to get my order..it is a togo order not a dine in experience, it is shoved in a bag, I pay, I leave , I have my own drinks at home. I do not even leave them a mess to pick up after me, and to still charge an extra 10% is not right, granted it is common courtesy to tip, but not a given.. but this is taking...

I wish I could give 0 star. I usually give 5 star even for an average place but these people to be precise the owner itself drove me crazy.

The staffs seem to be good and the shef also seems to be good as it was tasty. But it was the owner who served us.

And she served it like she almost throwed the plate at us. And in the next split second she will run fast for something. We could not even ask for a napkin or a plate. She was that fast in running from us.

#2 i ordered a seared Salmon role. Initially she said its cooking. Upon my multiple reminders she changed that to Sheff made it wrong. Isn't that her responsibility to make sure. And she is the owner if not her who else ?

#3 she came up with a check and then after few minutes she came back saying some items are not included. What's happening.

#4 And finally we even informed her and canceled a pending order. And when she gave the check the next thing she said is add tip what you want 10 20%. What ????.

#5 And before we leave she also came with some offer that next time she will give us some discount. Please keep that to you as we are not going to come nowhere near your place.

And if add a point that after this we went to a different restaurant and finished our dinner you will understand how pathetic...

I only stopped in for a minute to pick up some wonton soup for a friend. I had never been here before and was a little confused about where the entry was. There are many doors on the outside of the building and once inside you will see that most of them are indeed used for entry. There is a drinks bar on one side, dining through the center and a sushi bar on the other side of the building. I am so glad I came in during a slow time or would have been even more overwhelmed. I love this setup but it just took me a second to adjust and understand I was where I was supposed to be. The sushi chefs were very kind and informative. I can't wait to return for a sit down sushi fest...these guys look like they know what they're doing and I'm excited! My friend says the soup was delicious...I will post more next time I go.

Ok I went back for sushi after 8:30pm on a Sunday...I can't believe they were open that late! Sushi chef was super kind and attentive, even as getting ready to close up! I had the tuna lover roll and the Ichiban roll....both were excellent! The tuna lovers roll had yummy slabs o tuna on them and really hit the spot! I'm excited to go back and work my way through the menu! Will take pics...
