I gave them a two star, because I do like shopping there. However, they have a horrible website that is useless to check to see if they have what I need available. Diamond looses so much business to the Home Depot because of this. Try a test if you don't believe me, google Diamond and select the Grants Pass store. It sends you to Klamath automatically, then you need to change the store. On the Diamond search bar, type in 2x10x8, a common lumber size. What you see doesn't make any sense, and typically just says not available. Try typing that in at the Home depot, and it tells me all the different choices available and how many are in stock. If I only need a box of nails, Diamond is great, but if I need 100 2x10x8 DF boards, I like to compare prices and without driving to different stores. Try it yourself Diamond Management, see what your customers see. I am only wasting time posting this because I truly believe in shopping locally, and would use Diamond over Home Depot every time if they could come up with a useable website to check prices and availability. I think the website was written with very limited product descriptions that only an employee would know the terminology needed to actually find the product. Home Depot understands that consumers may not know the exact terminology, so they just show you everything close to what you are searching for. Makes life really easy. Additionally, the employees lack the knowledge when you do call to check on availability to figure out their own system, due to the reasons stated above. You can't just ask "do you have 4x8x11/32 OSB?" They have no clue what you are talking about, and they cannot just type that in and see results, because your system does not have it listed that way. So they transfer you to different departments until you finally find someone who knows what that is, and they go outside and look to see how many are in stock.
Invest in a consumer user friendly website that helps instead of hindering your customers, the payback will be well worth the investment. Your employees will also benefit by being able to answer customer questions without the unique identifiers needed to actually find common...
Read moreHardware is CONSISTENTLY mis-labeled.
AND, I'm not talking about an occasional fastener mis-placed by a customer.
I mean entire boxes mixed together.
If you want to get home and find out that you have the wrong hardware, then you have -2- drags on your time - schedule impact from having the wrong hardware wasting your time when you return the { French Word } DHI hardware.
AVOID AVOID AVOID
Ever since Hillman re-arranged their Fastener section a few years ago, DHI hardware has been CONSISTENTLY mis-labelled, AND their staff is clueless on the subject.
DHI = THE WRONG PEOPLE TO BUY FASTENERS FROM.
Since Covid19 affected the economy, it has gotten harder & harder to "Buy Local".
When I bought the box of Wood Screws from DHI, I was TRYING to buy Local.
BUT DHI shredded my schedule -3- times, with their mis-identified hardware.
From now on I buy online. That will have to be local enough.
I tried to "Buy Local", but after trying Diamond Home Improvement the closest I could get was to buy online from a distributor 3000 miles away - in Massachusetts.
Well I like Astronomy and, from an Astronomical point of view, Massachusetts is VERY Local.
I need a Bolt Depot.
To add a Positive Note - their 4x8 foot 1/4 ply is WAAAY better than Home Depot's.
I do a lot of "Messer Schneiden Holz" technique - Knife Cutting Wood - using a handheld knife to cut Plywood.
The Home Depot 4x8 foot 1/4 ply is a lot softer & easier to cut with a box-cutter.
So the DHI 4x8 foot 1/4 ply is hardwood. Not easy to cut with a knife.
The DHI 4x8 foot 1/4 ply is much more useful if you need your plywood to retain some...
Read moreUnfortunately, we had a very poor experience at Diamond and it is not our first one. We were eating next door at the Thai restaurant (very good, by the way) and needed a few things so went to Diamond. They had the "Bucket Sale" advertised. If it fits in a bucket, you get 15% off. Great. Went through, got things we didn't need and checked out. Cashier asked if we wanted to buy the bucket, we did not, rang us up and we left. On the way to the car, I looked at our receipt- no 15% off. Went back in, they said you have to trade in a bucket or buy a bucket to get the 15% off. Ok. That isn't said or advertised, but whatever. Manager is called, said "You are the first people in 15 years to not understand that you have to bring in a bucket or buy a bucket, but ok, we will give you the 15% off" I'm a pretty chill person (the person I was with was not) but if the manager is going to be condescending than I'm not going to patronize. Manager continues to make his own little scene, making a big deal when others bring in their buckets saying, "See, you bring in a bucket, you get a bucket." Not sure how Grant has had this job for 15 years, but maybe the dude needs a vacation. Won't be going back, and will be telling others to shop at Farmer's or Fields for GOOD customer service. This dude does not represent your store...
