Called in early in the morning to order 2 dozen regular chocolate and maple donuts for a birthday party for pick up later on in the day. I paid $30, which I personally feel is quite a lot for donuts but was happy to support a local business. Every other donut shop here in Grants Pass is under $1 per donut and even less than that for a dozen when itâs all said and done. When I got to the party with the donuts I opened them and realized theyâre not what I had ordered but continued on with the party since it would have been a total inconvenience to go back to the store, and I really didnât think it was that big of a deal. I have a blueberry allergy, there were blueberry donuts in the boxes. After the party I called in letting them know the order was incorrect and simply asked for a partial refund for the inconvenience. The employee I spoke with continuously interrupted me while I was talking, to the point that all of the above being explained took well over 10 minutes to complete the conversation. My husband actually interrupted the employee and asked her to not interrupt me, as I continued to have to repeat myself. The store owner actually called back within a few minutes and I was immediately met with a very negative attitude towards me as a customer. I asked her if her employee had told her anything that I had said just to keep it short and simple, she very rudely said âIâd rather you just tell meâ. Thatâs fine. I let her know I thought it was quite a bit of money for 24 donuts and she interrupted explaining it isnât and why. I explained the situation and she said âso you told my employee you had a blueberry allergy and you got blueberry donutsâ. I said no, I told the second employee I spoke with when I explained my order was incorrect. She rudely said âno you just told me you said you had an allergy and now youâre telling me you didnât so which is itâ and began mumbling something I couldnât understand under her breath. Very clearly not listening intently to the customers concern. She basically asked me to tell her what I wanted and I said I would like a partial refund because of the inconvenience. She asked me where the donuts were and I said I took them to the party, I wasnât going to drive all the way back to the store just to return them, and I really didnât think I needed too (I mean, COVID. Are you going to turn around and resell donuts that were already in someone elseâs home and vehicle?!). She said âlet me explain something to you, thatâs not how this works. When you buy a product you return it if you want your money back. Iâm not giving you your money back, I donât have my donutsâ. I offered her constructive criticism explaining that in the future as the owner of the business, she should really take complaints and listen to the customer - to which she interrupted me and said âoh so you think Iâm not listening to youâ. Not at any point did I discredit her, I let her know I can see her side but that the amount of professionalism she was displaying was going to end up causing her to lose customers. I understand where she is coming from but at no point did she offer anything other than a refund. She simply wanted the donuts back or kick rocks. She very clearly has zero concern for her customers feelings. I understand these are hard times, she can keep the $30 I really donât care at this point. Just know that if you go here and you have an issue, it will not be resolved easily, if at all. I really feel that she escalated the situation and made it a lot bigger than it needed to...
Read moreAfter reading the comment by Kelly Childers, (posted 40w ago) I wish to add my grievance and report the situation of customer service has declined even more. My Mother-in-Law, my wife, my sister-in-law, including myself started The Jelly Donut in Grants Pass Oregon in February, 1989. The Death of my Mother-in-Law that operated the busines for 20 years forced my Wife to sell the Jelly Donut to the present owner in 2009. Patti and Dan continued the preservation and reputation for the last 9 years, to my knowledge. I say this to report; On Thursday Evening, January 10th, 2019 (two weeks ago) I drove through Grants Pass from Olympia Washington, the area which we now live, and ordered 1 Dozen Donuts to go. Not being in the Donut business for over 10 years, I realize prices change and cost of living and prices for supplies raise and a price increase from $5 to $7 a dozen to $10 to $12 a dozen must be taken into an acceptable consideration. Not realizing though, now the price for 1 dozen Jelly filled or 1 dozen Maple/Chocolate bars are priced at a little over $16 ($1.35 each x 12), the Cinnamon Rolls, Apple Fritters and Specialties of course being much more of a price increase. After Choosing 6 Specialty Donuts, and 6 smaller priced donuts the Total price for the chosen dozen came to $33. I thought to myself, Mercy I should have stayed in the Donut Business as I handed the girl my Debit Card. All said and done my Sister-in-Law said that price does not sound right. I started puting pencil to paper and sure enough The price should have been $8 cheaper. I approached the employee and explained the situation and she was new, (Only been working 6 days), but explained that she figured the price according to the chart on the register and was told to charge these amounts. Now I am trying to explain the prices on the menu board DID NOT coincide with the price being charged, she continued to apologize but that was the price she was told to charge. To my anticipated relief an Employee had just arrived during our dispute and I ask her if she could help us. She stated Yes, She was the Baker, so I explained the situation. She put pen to paper and told us the price was correct, $33. Again I explained that the 6 Specialty Donuts were $2.75 each but remaining 6 were $1.35 each. The Baker justified her fraudulent behavior by stating the dozen donuts is considered a Specialty Dozen ($2.75 each donut), because half of the dozen were Specialties. No Refund, No Return. Run From This...
Read moreWent in and ordered vanilla donut holes. Cashier proceeded to bag Went in and ordered vanilla donut holes. Cashier proceeded to bag up choclate ones. I then had mentioned to the cashier that I do not like choclate and I had asked for vanilla. She then proceeded to rudely say,"Oh were actually out of those sorry." I asked her to take back the donuts and asked for a refund. She then rudely mentioned she cant take orders back over the counter. Which was confusing because she then asked for the bag and threw in another dozen of choclate donut holes after telling her that I didnt like the choclate donut holes. Maybe a normal response would have been nice instead of the cashier who clearly was not happy being there. Or maybe let a paying customer know their choice of donut is not available before taking my money and rudely refusing me a refund. Not only that, but the place was a disaster and had a disgusting smell of mold in the building. Now I am out $5 due to robbery by the cashier, I wasted 15 minutes dealing with this specific cashier, didnt get my son the donuts he had wanted and had to drive back to Applegate. Would NOT recommend this location one bit. Be aware of mold, dirty floors, disgusting attitudes from the employees and at best a very...
