The Depot Eatery — Restaurant in Grants Pass

We were in on the 30th of September, like we do two or three times a month. This has been our go to place for the last two years. We were told to pick a seat and so we went and sat in a corner both. They took our order for coffee and after that we never saw anyone. We waited for fifteen or more minutes. Finally Melissa came to take our order. By that time we were ready to leave. We asked her for our check and told her that we had waited with no one even coming over to take our order. When she was called on it she immediately blamed it on the fact that she was training and was very busy. We of course had clear view of the floor and the fact that it wasn't busy. We never saw her training anyone. She never apologized for leaving us sitting there with no service, instead she got an attitude and got defensive. As we were walking out I heard her tell the other waitress, those are the people that I told I was training and they got mad. We will not be coming back for awhile. So first time going and I had the Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon. The Egg was cooked perfectly and the english muffin and micro greens where good as well. The Hollandaise sauce was good but oh there was way to much. They treated it like it was biskets and gravy and went way over board. Even once I removed a lot of it there was still way to much. I would suggest getting it on the side that way you can add as much or little as you want. On to the Smoked salmon. It was a very light smoke and really you could only pick up on the smoke flavor on the edge of the meat.

My son had their Monte Cristo and after trying a bite I really wished I had ordered that. It had very good range of sweet and savory. Also their fries are very very good and I will be passing on the hash browns and home fries next time around.

We did feel a bit neglected from the waiting staff as I had to flag them down twice to get refills. I am going to get them a few more tries and update my post to give them a more in depth review on...

I've visited this restaurant several times in the past few years, and it has its ups and downs, depending on the time of day and the day itself. Breakfast is delicious; however, I've received lukewarm meals and even the wrong order on days when they're extremely busy. The last time I went with my 3-year-old daughter and my husband, we were kept waiting for 15 minutes just to have our order taken. Another 20 minutes later, our food arrived, with apologies that it had been set to the side and they had just then been able to bring it over. No coffee refills unless my husband got up and flagged down a waitress, and our food was taken back twice to be reheated. The staff was sincerely apologetic, however, and gave us a 10% discount because of the inconvenience. I've also been there for lunch, when it was much less busy, and was thoroughly satisfied with both the service and the food.
