What a fun venue! The lobby is small, but there was room for a merch table and a permanent small bar, with offerings I wasn't able to peruse. Several people around me in the audience seemed happy with their drinks, which are allowed in the theater.
The historic auditorium is intimate, and has no bad seats. The balcony looked like it would have been a blast -- awesome view of the stage, and not too far away.
I sat left off center in the second row (Row A) of (quite comfortable) folding chairs near the stage. The permanent chairs start in Row B, for some reason. I'd choose that row if you want a little more cushioning near the front. The front seats were positioned far enough back that we could clearly see everything on the raised stage.
The ticket-takers and hand-stampers were very pleasant and efficient at crowd management in a small space. My friend and I left and reentered the theater before the show with no problem.
The show itself was fantastic! We saw The Fab Four, a Beatles tribute band. As a long-time fan of the band, I am so happy they finally played in Southern Oregon.
The sound was great from where I was sitting, Neither distorted nor deafening! The lighting was a bit off a few times. Perhaps a missing spotlight or something. The main person on stage was standing in the dark up front a few times. That could be because of the limitations of lighting such a small stage. Or maybe the band was used to utilizing a larger area. Those few moments did not detract from the show for me.
I've lived in the Rogue Valley for 36 years and had never been to the Rogue Theater. It's the perfect sized venue for me, and I can't wait to see another show.
Thanks for bringing in The Fab Four! I hope...
Read moreI took a group go 10 to see Shopkins Live. We had 2 people with Developmental Delays, 1 senior citizen, 4 kids under 8 and 3 others to assist everybody. We asked for help in finding a place where we might have 10 seats close enough together to see one another. I was yelled at, in front of my group, and told that General Admission was General Admission and to go upstairs. I spent over $300 there, not to mention the 3 hotel rooms (some of our group was local) and the 20 meals at various restaurants in the area. I have never been treated as rudely as at this theater. It was embarrassing. We later asked for help in getting the people to sit down to allow the rest of us to see, all we got in response was a rude attitude and no action. We won't go there again. We would rather spend our money in Medford, Bend, Redding, Eugene, or anywhere else. I know we were not the only people that had that experience there. I hope other GP businesses won't mind the loss of business, and that the theater owners won't mind explaining that they are the reason...
Read moreI took my 80 year old parents to see one of their favorites, Del McCoury last night. I think they are permanently traumatized by the crazed twenty-something stoners that were wasted and falling all over them. They had no idea who Del McCoury was, they just wanted to get loaded. The staff "bouncers" watched them smoking weed all around us, and they sloshed beer all over my dad. They all seemed to have been raised by wolves, with no regard for the people around them. The body odor was so foul that we ended up changing seats 3 times, and then we just left early. What a waste of $160.00. While the theater and sound were good, the allowed bad behavior was very...
