Main Event is a decent place to spend a few hours to pass time with friends and acquaintances, but many employees come across as rude, snarky, and generally unfriendly. I visited M.E today with a group of friends, and each of us purchased the $15.00 "Fun Pass" that guaranteed unlimited bowling and laser-tag, which were the two activities we came for. The waitress who served us our food was very helpful and friendly, unlike other staff members we came in contact with that day.
After completing bowling and laser-tag, we decided to play billiards BEFORE 4:00PM, when Happy Hour begins. We walked into the bar area, where the billiards tables are, and walked up to a table. Three other patrons notified us to go to the bar to get pool balls, which we proceeded to do. We were given a set, and instructed to occupy a certain billiards table, and began playing. About ten minutes into playing, I walked up to the bar to place an order for a non-alchoholic beverage, as we had done in the past without difficulty. When I had placed an order, a younger employee with reddish hair, whose name I did not catch, decided to card me for a coke. I informed him I was purchasing a coke, and that it would've been unnecessary to card me for said drink, and likewise, I did not have my ID on me as a minor of 16 years. He then retorted "Why come to a bar without an ID, man?" I replied that I wasn't looking to buy alcohol and according to the policy posted outside the bar area, Happy Hour began at 4:00PM, and at that time, those under 18 had to be accompanied by an adult with an ID, therefore I was not violating any posted policy at 12:30 PM. He then sneered and told my friends and I to leave despite the protest of the bartender. Out of the desire to not cause a problem, we left, albeit unhappy.
This was the first distasteful experience I've had at Main Event and hope that employees understand their policy and Main Event make it very clear to both employees and patrons. What we experienced today was anomaly to previous visits and should be addressed by the management, which I've heard is...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've been here a few times, usually just for bowling, but I've tried it all. Main Events has a great variety of things to do, and it is that variety that you have to be looking for. They have a full-service bar, and it's a bit pricey. Their bowling lanes are seem very short. The scoring system is nice, and malfunctions are few and far between. Getting your lane can be an adventure, as the time estimates you'll be given seem arbitrary at best, and it is a regular thing for there to be a long wait when multiple lanes are sitting there unused (but fully functional). It was a little suspicious that on two separate occasions, one of the "reserved" lanes that had been off-limits was suddenly and inexplicably assigned to me after I pointed out that my group had already waited well past (+20 minutes) the estimated wait time. Considering that the system shuts down mid-game when your time is up, it is disappointing that they cannot give accurate estimates on when a lane will be available. The laser tag is fun, although they put way more people in there at a time than the course can accommodate. It is so saturated with bodies that the experience suffers considerably (compared with dedicated laser tag centers like Blazer Tag in Austin). Their arcade area has a decent variety, but if that's what you want then you'd be much better off -- and even end up spending less money -- just going to a Dave & Buster's. In summary, there is a lot to do at Main Event, and if you are looking to do multiple activities in a single visit, then that's the place to go. If you are looking for just bowling, just arcade, or just laser tag, though, you should probably find a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe absolute worst experience I have ever had at a Main Event in my life. Myself and some girlfriends showed up to play some pool and get a bite to eat. After putting our names on the wait list for a pool table, we sat down to get food. We sat at our table for at least 15 minutes without a single person acknowledging us. In the mean time we had ordered appetizers through the ziosk machine on the table. We finally get a serverās attention and order drinks and meals. We get our drinks, but it still took about 30 minutes from the time we ordered the appetizers to get those. More than once we ran out of drinks and we had to call the server over for refills. He never came over to check on us unless we called him over. An hour and a half after sitting down, we had only gotten drinks and appetizers, and we still had yet to get our actual meals. Our server was nowhere to be found. We finally got up and went to the bartender and asked for a manager, when our server finally showed up. He told us our food was taken to the wrong table, and it was being remade. We informed him we no longer wanted it because at this point our pool table was ready. He said it would be free and they would bring it to us. They did eventually bring it over to us, but Iām glad it was free, because it was awful. The lemon pepper wings were incredibly salty, the barbecue sauce was like glue, and the fries were completely tasteless. This place was entirely understaffed for a Saturday night. There were not enough servers, not enough kitchen staff if food took as long as it did, and the bathrooms also looked like a cyclone went through them. We definitely will not be going back to...
