I was there Saturday night with a friend. It was not busy. There were quite a few empty tables which I found quite unusual for a Saturday night and for a Salt Grass. It was about 7:30 pm. I ordered the grilled chicken and the waitress asked me what side I wanted. I told her mashed potatoes and she asked if there was anything else. I asked did that entrée not include a salad or soup? That’s what I thought the menu stated. She replied no, that would be extra. I thought that was a bit odd for a restaurant of this caliber. I should’ve asked to see the menu again and I did not so that’s my fault. Come to find out now when I look at their menus, it does indeed include soup or salad along with the one side choice. My friend’s meal was the same problem, she got the chopped steak meal. No soup or salad was offered when it should have been . Shame on me for not pressing the matter. They also got my friends order wrong, brought out the wrong dish of food, which the server eventually did apologize for. At one point after about five minutes of waiting for the correct food I believe it was an assistant manager, came by and apologized and said to please give her one or two minutes, they were working on her order. It took at least 10 more minutes for them to get her correct food. When we got the bill, the food item that was incorrect was on the bill and was credited. I just found it odd when there were two of us how/why did she take an order for three main entrées and then only cook two of them? I do not believe our server was new. I do think she did not know how to do her job well. This restaurant has been there for many many years and it looks like it. Definitely in need of a refresh decor wise. Between that and the subpar service maybe that’s why it wasn’t busy on a Saturday night. Needless to say I will not be patronizing that restaurant ever again. I do have to say what food we got was good but the atmosphere and service was not. We didn’t get everything we paid for since they didn’t give us all the items as advertised on the menu. Is this their way of saving on their budget? Seems a bit shady to me. It would’ve been nice if the manager had come around before we left to inquire how everything was, especially since there were obvious issues. That didn’t happen and I wasn’t going to waste anymore...
Read moreI ordered a medium steak, which came back with so much Char the steak tasted burned. For some reason, my husband‘s T-bone was not as burned. His actually had juice on the top and glistened where mine looked dry and tasted burnt. Let’s move onto the fried onions. Those were fried in oil that left an aftertaste in your mouth as if the oil was old or rancid. I did send back the medium sirloin, but requested a medium rare sirloin in place of the first one hoping that the char wouldn’t be so overwhelming. That did not happen and only after I ordered the second steak and rejected it did the manager tell me that they could’ve cooked The steak not on an open flame but a different surface. So I feel that the management could have saved one steak by just offering that as an option after the first one was so burnt and tasted burnt. I prefer to taste steak, not Char. I do have a video which I will post. I’m giving Saltgrass 2 stars for potatoes and brussels sprouts but those are kind of hard to mess up and my husband’s steak that was not burned.
We did tell our waitress that the onions had an aftertaste and the oil was bad. They only credited two steaks (the two that I returned that were over burnt), but that was another thing that irked me. The steaks were $26.99 but they only credited us $51 and some cents to remove those from the bill. They never credited us the fried onions, even though we left a pile on our table. I ended up never eating a steak because I was so frustrated. And yes, I did not complain about the $51 that was incorrectly credited and the $10 that should’ve been credited for fried onions but I just wanted to get out of there. I waited so long for the second steak not thinking I would be put at the back of the line for a re-order. My husband had already finished his steak and he’s a slow eater. I think waiting for that second steak just put me over the edge. I was hungry and I was hungry for a steak and this place wasn’t cutting it. This experience was a disappointing end of a long day since we had been running around trying to secure a residence for ourselves. It was supposed to be a celebration, but that’s not how it ended up. It really bums me out 2 tasty things were so not tasty, and I was hungry for...
Read moreI tried to find a link for a GM of this location and couldn't. I don't like leaving negative reviews, but, maybe it will get the attention of the GM. Preface: It was not busy at all and many clusters of servers were just standing around. It was 8:00 p.m. One was stroking and playing with another's hair as they were standing around. Others were laughing and chatting.
We were seated promptly. However, it took 15-20 minutes to be acknowledged . My son ordered a tap beer and that took 20 minutes. Then we asked for another loaf of bread and that took 20 minutes or so. When the food did come out, my filet (6 ounce) was about 1 and 1/2 bites and tough. The Sweet potato I got was not cooked clear through and hard pieces. My grandsons ribeye was cold (out of the refrigerator cold-- the butter wasn't even melting on top)... My other grandson's chicken looked as though it had been pounded. He didn't even eat much of it because he said it was so dry. My son's salmon was sub-par for a $34 piece of Salmon. My son got upset, he walked out and didn't eat. The hostess asked if we would also like to leave, rather than would we like to have it fixed. I sent back my grandson's $30.00 ribeye and when it came back, it looked as if they had just reheated it. He said it was tough. For a $150 bill, I would have expected better service, much better food. They did comp the ribeye, but I would have rather had the service and good food. I have always had great food there and that it why I recommended it to my son. It was my birthday and he wanted to make it special. It ended up that my son was so angry at it all and I was so disappointed. Perhaps better training of the staff... and for sure the chef. The food was not the quality I have had before. Such a disappointment from a place that used to be top notch. I am sorry to review it this way, but maybe management will take note. PS. I guess I was just appalled at the waitress' playing with the others hair, the lack of attention (taking so much time just to bring a beer - when it was not busy), the attitude of the hostess rather than "how can we fix this." and the poor quality...
