I used to get giddy when I knew I had something to do at the Gaylord, because of this place! In the past a couple of times I spent $20 just to park and go to eat their soup and Guac and chips. The soup was so good I spent years figuring out how to recreate it. Rich and flavorful chicken stock poured over a half of an ear of corn, chicken, avocado, potatoes, & tomatoes! The table side guac was made to your tastes and was always fabulous and they had a top shelf margarita so good it made you want another one!! So imagine my delight when I have another occasion to be at the Gaylord!! It had been a couple of years, so I was PUMPED! Well, changes have occurred. New head chef = new menu. No more of my precious soup. No more table side guac. No more incredible margarita. I decided I would give the new menu a chance. Basically, I could have had the same outcome if I threw $35 in the trash. I ordered the tortilla soup and paid the upcharge for the added pulled chicken. It tasted like enchilda sauce that housed two small pieces of avocado, one chunk and three shreds of chicken...and all of that thick enchilada sauce, instead of broth. Blech. My margarita was a skinny margarita, but for some reason was carbonated. ? Carbonated. Yes, I said the $13 margarita was carbonated. And finally, the guac. There was no amount of salt and lime to dress up that mess. What they did to those avocados was a shame and it was obvious the quality of fruit with which they started was poor. Never again will I recommend this place. I blush with embarrassment thinking of how many people I've told to go here when I heard that someone was going to the Gaylord. Never again. (The soup in the blue bowl was the original fabulousness that I was...
Read moreThis review is for a breakfast buffet. So i was anxious when it is the only restaurant open for breakfast (this or room service) and the review was no good. However, it was much better than i was expected
The good .. Lot of options for foods. There are classic breakfast like eggs, sausage, bacon and pancake. Also has cold cut, variety kind of cheese, breads fruits. and Mexican breakfast.
All food and nice and fresh. I am very happy with a quality of the food. There is also an eggs station. A gentleman and a lady chef that works at the station are nice and friendly.
We went around 8a.m. and we get a tables right away no wait which is great.
The buffet includes all you can drink juices, tea, milkcand coffee
Lot of things to choose from ..
The bad...
Each group is assigned a server and if you get a bad server you are out of your luck. Our lady server that was assigned to us suck. She didn't give us any water or asked us if we want any drinks. We waited patiently for more than 20 minutes after we seated, no help no checking on us. We saw that she was chatting with another server at the other side of the restaurant. Finally, another gentleman i believes name Juan came to rescue us. He brought us water and took a great care of us for the rest of the meal time.
The totals of a breakfast for 3 adults + 1 free baby includes tips was around $126. It is a bit pricey but it is the best and the most convenient option if you stay at the hotel.
I don't think that the price is ridiculous like other reviews. Also they already includes gratitude with the check so read your check carefully.
I would give it 5 stars if our first server does her job.and...

From the moment we stepped into the charming, indoor recreation of the San Antonio Riverwalk, we were captivated by the ambiance. With cobblestone paths, flowing water, and string lights overhead, it felt like we were dining al fresco in a quaint riverside town, even though we were comfortably indoors.
We were lucky enough to have Ali as our server, and she made the entire experience exceptional. Friendly, attentive, and full of great recommendations, Ali truly elevated our visit. She was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu and made sure we had everything we needed without ever feeling rushed.
We decided to go with the tacos — and, they were pretty good. Perfectly seasoned, fresh ingredients, and just the right amount of spice. They came out hot and flavorful, with a side of chips and salsa that we couldn’t stop munching on. The portions were decent, and every bite was satisfying. Pair that with a cold ginger beer and it was the perfect meal.
Whether you’re staying at the resort or just visiting, the Riverwalk Cantina is a good choice. Good food, a beautiful setting, and great service from people like Ali make it a standout dining experience. I’d absolutely return, and I’ll be requesting Ali...
