Wow so impressed. I'd heard about Whataburger for ages as one of those regional favourites. Frankly as a New Yorker I was probably biased against the Texas origins of this chain as probably just a lot of bluster & hype.
However I am happy to say I was very wrong. My experience top to bottom was remarkable and amazing. The lady who took my order was very friendly & helpful. Upon learning this was my first Whataburger experience she suggested I try the Patty Melt which I would never have considered otherwise.
The Patty Melt is one of the best burgers I've ever had. Beyond anything I've had at In 'n Out, Five Guys or Smashburger. Competing with the best that Shake Shack has to offer.
Just the sheer quality of the burger patty was something to behold. It was like the burgers I had in childhood cooked by Mom or at friends BBQ's.
The french fries near perfection. The only fries that exceeded Whataburger were the matchstick fries at a high end place in Orlando that were 3x the price. Loved the spicy ketchup too.
The only place that truly competes with Whataburger from food to service is Culvers based out of Wisconsin. Interesting to note that both Whataburger & Culvers are family-owned. If they could improve the service offering at Shake Shack it could be also be in the top tier but it's a publicly traded company so its all about the Benjamins at Shake Shack now.
I fly annually from the UK to Mexico and normally stopover in LA. I'll be sure to fly through DFW again looking forward to my next...
Read moreCashier TRACIE was extremely rude. I was shaking at just seeing how ugly she was treating EVERY SINGLE CUSTOMER. I am from Texas and it’s so embarrassing that this type of human is what people deal with when traveling to our state. She told a man in such an ugly tone of voice “go to the back of the line, it’s rude that you’re doing this” when the man simply approached the register to ask where he could purchase a drink. I stared at the man’s face and couldn’t help but feel soooo sorry for him. He then reached the front of the line, he had already received his order but went back for a drink and when she charged him he paid with dollars and when he was reaching for his spare change, she said “I can’t believe people won’t have their change ready to pay” as if we are supposed to guess the total with tax and immediately have payment ready, couldn’t even wait less than a minute! ….i was so upset. I can’t believe you guys allow such disgusting behavior and allow such person to be representing us as a State. Simply disgusting…food was delicious as usual with Whataburger but customer service was the worst I’ve experienced in a long time. She complained to every customer in line (i was sitting right in front of the register so I witnessed everything) about her working toooooo many hours and was “so tired” as if that...
Read moreThe staff at this restaurant truly care about creating a welcoming environment. I had the pleasure of chatting with Alta, the fabulous lady working in the seating area, diligently keeping everything sparkling clean. We shared a lovely moment discussing the importance of maintaining a tidy space. She was absolutely delightful!
Then there was Shun, with whom I had a brief but wonderful exchange. Not only did she ensure our order was spot-on, but we also found a connection through our shared experiences of loss—hers to the devastating Hurricane Katrina and mine to the 2015 Butte wildfire in Calaveras County, California. These brief human connections are truly invaluable.
Although I now reside in California, I grew up in Frisco, Texas. So during our layover at DFW International Airport on our way back to Sacramento, stopping at Whataburger was a nostalgic treat. The folks here are attentive and quick to assist if anything isn't quite right.
My meal was absolutely delicious! Pro tip: buy the extra gravy and dip your fries in it—create your own version of poutine. Whataburger is fantastic, and their fries are a delight. Enjoy this little extra treat with your burger and onion rings for the...
