Afternoon Deli — Restaurant in Grass Valley

Nevada County local, born and raised yet somehow I have been glossing over this gem for years 🤷‍♂️ Shared a Chicken "cheese steak" sandwich (not sure the name) with my 15 month old and we both LOVED it! The fries here are some of (if not the) the best in town! Crowded but we found seating outside and enjoyed lunch with family. Outdoor seating area is just secluded and private enough to keep it from feeling like you are eating in front of Kmart as the backdrop is small pines. Place is busy and it's well deserved but the parking is generous and the workers move quickly but are also attentive to detail. All around good experience for my first time through, will definitely be back!

Have you ever finished a sandwich, and then were immediately devastated that you finished the sandwich? That is my experience every time I eat at Afternoon Deli. That’s why I always save my fries for last - not only are they the tastiest fries in Nevada County, they also help ease the pain of missing that delicious sandwich 😆.

If I’m being honest, the staff always seems a bit stressed… but maybe it’s just because they’re always super busy because they are amazing.

Lots of vegan options, alternatives, and the staff is very knowledgeable about how to make substitutions to suit all dietary needs.

Our Family LOVES this place. Bob and his wife had a wonderful Idea openeing this deli. I will have great memories here for as long as I live. This is one of few places my hubby can eat fries. Whatever type of oil the other places use up here use have always made him sick. His reaction is similar to an allergic reaction. He also loves the Bison burger. My kids and I like too many things to mention. They will ALWAYS have our business as long as they are around. Thank you Bob for having a wonderful place that will also be special to me!!!
