While I was in town I had a great experience at The Training Zone. The staff was really friendly, especial Landon. Always there to answer any questions and I even saw Landon helping others with their form to prevent injuries -- nothing shows a gym cares about their members more than wanting them to stay healthy and injury free by sharing knowledge and not just reserving it for only "paid training" members.
I was also pleasantly surprised how clean the gym was. Lots of members using the disinfectant wipes strategically placed around the gym. The staff was tiding up and reracking weights almost hourly -- none of the big box gyms do that near me -- it's always a mess with them. Training Zone was tidy and organized. The bathrooms were really clean too.
I love how they adjust the music at night to better fit the attendees. The 70s rock isnt a good fit when everyone in the weight room was born in the 90s haha, but Landon and the other staff tuned the music to be more contemporary and upbeat during the evenings to keep the energy level up.
Whenever I'm back in town I'm definitely going back to The Training Zone. Hands down the best all around gym in...

Today I came into the gym, to find out that my membership had expired. No notice, just pay us now. I spoke with the lady in front (shoulder length dark brown hair) to discuss options.
She told me I could renew at 6 months or monthly for 60 dollars a month. I asked her at that time if she could do any better, she couldn't apparently. After my workout I approached her again, asking if she could do any better than 60 dollars a month as I'll probably not be back for that price. I said 'This gym isn't really worth 60 per month and I could probably find better, but the location is good". I think I insulted her, or she became very stiff with one word answers, yes and no.
Oh well, I've been going to gyms all over California for 30 years, this one has A LOT of weights, and old used cardio equipment. I am sure I can do better. Thanks for being so rigid T.Z. and not having any loyalty programs. I hope you figure out how to keep your customers.
P.S. The locker rooms are tiny, no personal space when changing. Showers are fine and they have a portable, deck sauna in the...
Read moreThe most unprofessional gym I've been to. It's run by a lot of high school students and extremely overpriced for the worst gym in Grass Valley. Also, don't take your kids here if you don't want them in front of a TV or sitting in soiled diapers. The teenage girls in there are constantly on their phones, gossiping and not paying attention. All the kids are in one small room- little and big kids. I picked up my son several times with poopy diapers and the last straw was when one of the girls wanted to argue with me and make excuses as to why he had been sitting in his soiled diaper for so long. Her response was "well, we don't change their diapers unless they let us." Um, if that was the case then he would never get his diaper changed and he's not even TWO! Or at least notify me so I can change his diaper.
The setup inside is really odd and not to mention being in a shopping center with terrible parking. Save your money and go to South Yuba Club or better yet- just...
