It was fantastic! I got pancakes. They came two gigantic pancakes on a plate that they fell over the plate, with two pieces of bacon. I didn't realize it but everybody in the restaurant was wondering if I was going to be able to eat it all. A gentleman from another table came over and put $2 on my table and said you can have that if you eat all that. LOL his wife then said you only gave her $2? He said should I give her more and his wife said well yeah they're gigantic. So he then proceeded to ask anybody else in the area if they wanted to put money in on the bat to see if I was going to be able to eat it all. LOL it made it a lot of fun. I really tried hard and left a little bit of Pancakes left but I had to leave room for my bacon. That was extremely important. So when I was finished I looked over at him and his wife and point it to my plate and he said I can't believe you ate that much. The money's yours, I picked it up and put it inside my shirt inside my bra. LOL we all got a good laugh. I was not offended in any way. I would go there again the staff was absolutely great the food was great. You have to wait outside out front in order to get inside which you don't realize there's lots of seats inside. Or you can eat outside if it's nice out, right out in front of the building. It was my first time going but the gentleman I was with had been there many times many many times and he said that there's a backside where there's way more seats outside. They close that once it starts cooling off and just open the front and the inside which isn't big by any means that is very cool. There's a shelf all the way around the whole room and there's knick knacks up on top of there, like old stuff there was an old dial phone then just down the Shelf a little ways was it even older phone like you would see on The Waltons or maybe Little House on the Prairie. An old iron just an old model truck a small one all kinds of little knick knacks up on this Shelf old pictures of what the area used to look like. I hope you enjoy it there. Keep your mind open...
Read moreI've been debating on posting this review but decided it needs to be done.
I've been wanting to try this place for a while now, so when my dad came into town we decided to go. We came in on a Tuesday around noon and walked up to the "please wait here to be seated sign" which was placed outside of the restaurant. The door to the restaurant was open and I saw the hostess standing inside behind the counter working on something. She was standing by another sign that said "wait list here". So I figured since she was working on something inside she would want us to put our name down at this other sign.
We walk in and immediately the hostess seems annoyed. She asks us how many we have, glances into their side room, then shakes her head and literally with her hands "shoos" us out of the restaurant. I'm caught off guard because already this seems so rude to do to customers, but we go back outside. Where the hostess then hits the "please wait to be seated sign". I told her that there was no one outside. To which she rudely said "she had other things to do". I then proceeded to tell her she didn't need to be rude and she flipped it sound telling us we were the rude ones. At this point I'm so upset, holding my 2 year old with my 4 and 6 year old standing next to me. If it weren't for me having hungry kids I would have just left. We ended up getting seated shortly after this on the patio.
I texted my husband who was on his way and let him know of the situation. He immediately knew who I was talking about once he sat down with us because she was being rude to other customers coming in as well.
The food was good. But after reading other reviews I would not wait over an hour for this place. The scenery is obviously remarkable. The experience was terrible and nothing ive ever encountered before. We unfortunately will...
Read moreReally pleasant, cool, shady outdoor seating on a sunny hot day.
Waitress was friendly, but seemed a bit overwhelmed. The outdoor seating is significantly larger than it seems as it is broken up into multiple areas. As others have noted the food is a little slow coming, but as long as you have time to relax and enjoy, it’s a pleasant experience.
They really seem a bit over stretched. I don’t know if it’s normal, or if it was the festival at the lake increasing numbers. The most concerning thing to me was when I got some else’s credit card back when paying. Hopefully mine was just waiting at the cashier still.
I normally think of toast as just a little extra starch to fill you up or a delivery method for honey or jelly. However their raisin cinnamon toast was very enjoyable. I didn’t even add honey.
Likewise, “breakfast potatoes” normally strike me as a waste. And I was intrigued by another review that said the breakfast potatoes were the only joke on the menu. I actually really liked them. They were almost like extra thick chips. Ranging from crispy to just warmed in the middle. Well worth eating.
The eggs were also really flavorful, like farm fresh eggs.
The sausage patty was also very good with just a hint of spice heat.
The Italian sausage gravy versus standard white gravy is also worth it.
The cinnamon roll was nice. The bread portion was great as a sweet bread, not a donut or dry loaf bread as too often happens. A bit more cinnamon and frosting would be better in my opinion. Still better than average for restaurant...
