We placed an order for my graduation cake on Sunday April 28th (two weeks before my graduation party). We picked out a cake that we could put my picture on and gave them a physical copy of the picture we would like to put on it. The worker wrote down the order on the form and took the picture. On Friday May 10th, I went to pick it up but they could not find it. They looked everywhere and could not even find the order form or the picture we gave them. The workers looked for the order form for probably about 10-15 minutes but told me they had no luck finding it. They tried to do their best to make it right by offering me 2 free smaller circle cakes from what they had left in the display case. I took a yellow cake with white icing and a chocolate cake with chocolate icing and they offered to write "congratulations" on it. I appreciate them giving me 2 cakes for free but it just wasn't the same. The cake we initially ordered was a large sheet cake meant to feed up to 40 people and of course had my photo as well as other decorations on it. I could tell the workers felt terrible for what had happened. I know mistakes happen but we are a bit baffled as to how the order form and photo could just disappear like that. I also just wish there would've been some type of confirmation email when we initially placed the order so that we could have a record of the order. When we initially placed the order, they said we could pay the day we picked it up so we didn't receive a receipt the day we placed the order or anything like that. The two cakes that I did take were very delicious though and the workers really tried their best to make it right. I just wish there was a better system in place to ensure special orders are confirmed after the order is placed. So I guess my advice to anyone placing any type of cake order here is: take pictures of the order forms or make sure to get a receipt; then call them ahead of time to ensure the cake is...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe west side of Cincinnati is a good place. Its food is dismal, though, and anyone reading this knows it. For a large part of a big city, the west side restaurants are dreadful, dismal, and bland.Yet, here is an institution that has maintained standards and delivers an excellent product every time.
The ice cream is the best there is. I deducted a star because the experience should be a magical one. You are dealing in ice cream, which is joy. Show this joy in everything you do.Trust me, we will come when we feel heard when we order, when we are smiled at. We will pay more for your cones because when we leave, you took us out of the drudgery , sadness, low point, even just for fifteen minutes to step into a clean , beautiful place with marvels of ice cream all around. The young workers need more joy sometimes. Get engaged. Have some passion. My gosh, if I worked there, this would be the best-selling Graeters in the city because I would want to do it and hustle and smile. I don't see that with some of the people who work here. That said, can someone nominate Val for being the greatest worker that this store has ever had? She's a delight, professional, and the ONLY one who knows how to truly make a phosphate. So I am the only one who orders them? So what? Teach them to do this. Learn from Val to be a leader and to make a phosphate and bring the magic back to this place. This lady is graceful ,smiles, and is a national treasure. Learn from her. Always clean bathrooms. That is lovely. On a very good note, Graeter's has set the bar where it should be, and the other west side establishments need to pay attention. It should not be this bad for food and treats , but paraphrasing Casablanca, we will always...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe manager at this store, NICOLE is very rude. She denied me the right to use a $5 gift certificate that I've been using at various other locations. She would ask me questions and rudely talk over me, raising her tone of voice when I spoke in a calm and respectful manner to her. She even went as far as taking it and not giving it back to me which was fine, because I have more that someone gave me as a gift. Still, no one should be treated as such when they are choosing their service when there's other places I could've chosen to go to. I go to Graeter's a lot, but this was my first and last time going to this specific location. Terrible job at giving someone a great experience for their first time at your store. Way to make a...
