This isnāt really a review. Itās more of a heads up to management or corporate. The bagels here are chronically undercooked and pale in color. The potato chips I had alongside my sandwich were literally three shades darker than the bagel itself. A properly cooked bagel should be a nice golden brown color not light tan. Over the two years living in Greensboro Iāve watched the color of the bagels get lighter and lighter to the point today it felt like the bagel was bordering on raw dough.
My family owned a well loved bagel store in New York City for many years and is still in existence under the new owners, so I would consider myself somewhat of a subject matter expert in this field. I have a feeling that the oven needs to be recalibrated/repaired. Itās probably time to get a technician out to make sure the oven temperature inside is the same as whatās on the temperature gauge/thermometer. Whenever we noticed a deviation in our bagels, it was almost always the oven, especially if itās electric. (Heating elements do wear out)
If by some miracle, the oven is actually functioning correctly then itās just a matter of cook times. This place is always pretty busy and I can imagine the staff getting stressed out and taking the bagels out early just to get product on the shelf. This is a management issue. I would rather people wait for a properly cooked delicious bagel than get them out the door with some half cooked raw dough.
An old trick we used to use in New York was to take a brown paper bag and compare the color to the bagels. If the bagels are lighter in color than the bag, theyāre undercooked. Most bagel enthusiasts would probably want them a little darker and even a little bit of a crisp to the outer layer, but if you are in a rush, at bare minimum they should be as dark as a brown paper bag.
Somebody please look into this, no more anemic bagels please.
Update: Returned yesterday 12/27/24 hoping for a better result but it was more of the same. Posted pictures this time. Pale and anemic looking bagels with a doughy wet inside. That will be my last time ever going to this place. Sad because of the close and convenient proximity to my...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreEVERY single time I order ahead on the app (minimum 30 minutes) to not wait, I still end up waiting over 15 minutes by the time I get there because the workers decide to not make any of the items in my order just because they donāt have any more of the bagels I ordered, Iāve had this problem every single time, and when I told them about it, they told me to call ahead. Yet when I call ahead I have to call literally 8 times for them to finally answer. I thought ordering ahead on the app meant not having to wait. Why canāt the employees call my number on file to let me know that the bagels I want are not there. Iām tired of having to wait a total of an hour for only 3 bagel sandwiches. I recommend if you call, stay calling because Iāve even witnessed that the workers ignore the phone calls to not (in their words) ādeal with the customersā Just a heads up for those who think ordering ahead means quicker service, it doesnāt, youāll end up waiting EVERYTIME.

I have called a total of 14 times today to check if they have the bagels from my order again, and not a single answer. This place has workers that donāt bother meeting customer...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhat the heck happened to Bruegger's Bagel in Friendly Center, Greensboro???!! This used to be our number 1 favorite place for bagels. We haven't visited for a while because we've moved, so when we visited recently it was on our list of places to go. What an incredible disppointment!! The service went from "Welcome in. We're happy you're here. What can we get for you?" to "What do you want? Give me your money. Get you stuff and get the hell out." I asked for no bacon on my Western. I had almost a whole package of bacon on my bagel. My son asked for no creamcheese, as he's allergic to dairy, but they put it on anyway. When I went back in and told the rude man at the register, he offered no apology, even after the employees making the sandwiches made sure they let him know it was his fault for not putting the exceptions in the POS system as I'd requested. The employee who remade the sandwiches apologized, which I appreciated. And then I heard her announce they were out of bacon. No wonder! They'd put it all on my sandwich! No more tables to sit at inside. The worse experience at any Brueggers hands down....
