I have been to this East Coast Wings maybe 5 times since I have lived downtown. Each visit has been less than stellar. The reason why I wait before I say something is everyone has their "days" and I don't think that it's fair to judge someone based on one experience. That being said, you are running a business.
They want you to wait to be seated but every time I have been in here no one greets you when you come in. Guests just stand around awkwardly until someone asks you if you are dining in or how many guests? So to continue, before I had the awkwardness I walked around to find someplace to sit, no out of all the tables in the place not one was clean. The funny thing is there were no guests at the tables. Just a place full of dirty tables. It's not as if they were short-staffed I saw many servers and owners/managers walking around. We finally were asked how many we had in our party. The server told us that we could find a clean table and sit unless there were not any clean. Sorry that was the case so it seemed as if it was a burden to clean off some tables. Next we were asked what we would like to drink. After drinks were delivered we were ready to order but were told to hold on because she (our server) needed to check something. When she came back she apologized and told me that she had to make sure the night shift hadn't came in yet because it would have been someone else's table. The order is in! It made me feel like it was again a burden for her to serve us.
After waiting about 15 minutes I decided that I wanted to put some tunes on the jukebox. Wouldn't you know they got rid of the TouchTunes jukebox... One of the only real reasons I come here. (No it's not the high quality food) So I got stuck to listening to the best of the 80's and 90's that skipped or cut out many times (i guess from a weak satellite connection). The total ticket time here was very disappointing, as it took almost 25 minutes to receive a burger, sandwich, fries and chips?
They really should check the grease they fried my chips in because it had burned specs of something on the chips themselves that something being what you would find if you scraped the bottom of the fryer. My friend got the philly cheese-steak sandwich and was completely satisfied and ate it up to the last bite (fries included). Maybe I should have went that route. My burger was really tasty though so kudos to who cooked and prepared it (you are probably the entire 2 stars or close to it)
Sorry still not done I was kind of digging some dessert. It took almost an act of a higher authority to get the attention of our server. We decided to get the Cookie dessert which has freshly baked cookies on a skillet, with vanilla ice cream on top. HURRY you must eat the dessert quickly or the heat will melt the ice cream. So good! I would have been happier just ordering the dessert and it could have just as easily got the two stars.
I don't think I will be back unless I am in the area and am craving...
Read moreSo disappointed. Called in an order Sat before Superbowl. Scheduled for 5 pm pickup for 50 wings, 5 flovors. Got there to pickup and there were a few folks ahead of me and 3 orders sitting on the table at 4:55pm. When it was my turn, I asked to get my order which was charged to my card at 2pm already and they couldn't find it and came back to tell me it was being done now. There were no tables in the restaurant occupied at this time either so nothing for the kitchen to do but call in orders. After about 20 more min, I asked what was taking so long and was told that I must have called in my order to another store. I pulled out my phone and dialed the number I called and the phone behind the counter rang, I showed her the number and she agreed it was thier number. I then showed her the charge made to my Citibank card and then she looked for an order totaling the 53.00 order I payed for and low and behold it was sitting there on the counter as one of the three I saw when I came it. It had MIE as the name on the ticket and not MIKE which was the name it should have had. Now the wings have been sitting there for at least 30 min now so I collected them and left very frustrated. When I got home with them, I started to take them out and put in a pan to warm up in the oven and NONE of the individual trays were marked with any flavors. There was no ranch dressing nor were the carrots and celery included in the order that I paid for. Although she appoligized for the error in finding my order, I feel it can be attributed to poor management as they had several folks working the call ahead line and 2 had no idea what they were doing and the other was so frazzeled she was lost and really the volune of orders handled in that 30 mind I wanted there could gave been handled by 1 good waitress. Maybe only 10 orders walked out in that time, including grub hub and door dash orders. The preparation...
Read moreI ordered some items that the allergen menu specified were gluten free. As a precaution, I added a note that the food must be GF in the notes section of the online ordering platform I used. Many restaurants take special care to avoid mixed handling of food when they know there is a food allergy involved, so I like to add that information even if the food I ordered is already GF.
Someone from this restaurant called me and asked me if I wanted to cancel my order because the food I ordered was not gluten free. I explained that bone-in wings are naturally gluten free because they are not cooked with any type of gluten. The note I left was precautionary--there should be no problem with the wings I ordered. The woman on the phone told me NOTHING they served was gluten free. Again, I tried explaining that chicken is naturally gluten free and that the allergen menu on their website said what I ordered was gluten free. The woman on the phone was so unsure of herself she relayed my conversation to someone else who kept telling her what to say. We went back and forth several times (someone in the background telling the woman on the phone what to say, the woman speaking to me, me speaking back to her, and the woman on the phone telling the person in the background what I said.) The person in the background never offered to speak to me directly, despite the fact that the conversation was obviously between us and the woman on the phone had no idea what to do or say. We had to end the conversation because the woman on the phone reached a point where she would only respond to my questions by saying, "So do you want me to cancel your order?" I could hear the woman in the background of the call saying, "Just tell her we don't have any gluten free food here." The entire exchange was handled poorly. The employees involved in this situation don't seem to know their inventory and were unwilling to look at...
