I am extremely disappointed with the customer service I received from the manager at Harper Restaurant in Greensboro, North Carolina. On Wednesday, December 18, 2024, I attempted to make a reservation for a party of 16, only to be informed that the restaurant does not take reservations for Sundays. Understanding this, our group decided to arrive at the restaurant when it opened at 11:00 AM.
Upon our arrival, the manager on duty informed us that we could not be seated because our party was "too large" and that they already had 100 people expected to come in. I explained that I had tried to make reservations but was told this was not possible for Sundays. Despite this, the manager was extremely rude and dismissive, showing no interest in finding a solution and lacking even basic courtesy and professionalism.
When I asked the manager for the phone number to the corporate office, he shockingly threatened to call the police—and then actually did. This was an absolutely unacceptable and humiliating escalation of the situation, especially when all we wanted was to enjoy a meal together.
It is entirely unacceptable for a manager, who is the face of the restaurant, to treat customers in such a disrespectful and unprofessional manner. This experience left me feeling frustrated, disappointed, and undervalued as a customer. I had much higher expectations from Harper Restaurant, and this interaction has significantly tarnished my view of the establishment.
I strongly urge Harper Restaurant to address this issue and improve their management and customer service practices. No customer should have to endure poor an offensive treatment.
We Were able to speak with the General Manager at Harpers Restaurant, who was very friendly, very interested to hear what we had to say an offered an apology on behalf of Harpers Restaurant. This conversation did help us to feel valued, however, the sting of the offending manager and his coworker still strongly resonates as a...
Read moreSwung by here for early dinner around 5pm with hubby and our toddler after shopping for Halloween costumes. The hostesses were very nice as our toddler came stumbling in, clearly excited to get out of the rain and onto the next, and getting us seated almost immediately. The lights were dimmed just enough to light the table from overhead. A very intimate feeling.
Hubby started with drinks. A mojito to start off followed by the orange mule. He loved his mojito and said it was well balanced, but that the orange mule was just vodka and some ginger water. Not great at all. Also was thrown off by the glass it came in which wasn't the expected copper cup.
For the entree, he got the steak and fries. With the butter and great execution of his medium-rare steak, he said it was very tasty! Would definitely order again.
For our daughter, we ordered the Cheffy's Sliders which were two pieces of grilled chicken in buns served with fries. I loved that it was appropriately sized for her small hands and was typically agreeable. Unfortunately, she wasn't interested in the burgers but happily ate the fries and ketchup.
And for me, I was between the two styles of ribs on the menu and ended up ordering a half rack of the danish baby back ribs. I thought it was cooked very well. It had a great crispiness to the outside and the meat didn't fall off the bone, yet pulled away easily. The proprietary sauce used to marinate it was also very delicious. Not overly sweet and very savory. Would totally order this again! I also found myself eating all my mashed potatoes which were very buttery and generous in portion. The slaw was creamy and tasty as well.
All in all, I think this is a safe spot to hit up if you need something reliable in terms of offerings and experience. The drinks might be a hit or miss, but if that's not important, I'd say it's safe to bring family/friends visiting...
Read moreToday is 08/24/2025. My family and I decided we’d eat here for dinner after shopping around in Friendly Shopping Center. We called ahead of time because there were 4 of us and my newborn to ensure that seating and wait time was adequate. Upon arrival we were greeted, seated immediately, and also introduced to our waitress by the name of Tang (I think). Anyway, she immediately gave us our drinks and took our food order. At the time that we were seated, the restaurant seemed fairly empty. Tang gave us great service initially but after she served us drinks, she went missing for a great amount of time. Additionally, the restaurant began to get more and more crowded with time. After an hour of getting 1 refill and noticing that others were getting their food and we were skipped over, Tang finally comes back to the table. We politely ask her what’s going on with our food and we’d been waiting a long time. She walks away towards the kitchen. Then, we see her navigate to the bar and then back to the register. After this, the manager comes over to advise us that our food would be ready “soon.” WE HAD ALREADY WAITED A LONG TIME AND WERE THERE WAY BEFORE THE CROWD ARRIVED!!!!!!!!! We decided to get up and leave. Poor service and if the waitress made a mistake and never placed our order she could have at least apologized and advised/updated us. I’ve NEVER had to walk out of a restaurant before. I can’t believe we had such a horrible experience! I will NEVER attempt to dine here again! H O R R I B L E! Worst...
