Reading the responses from the manager has definitely made it clear that I won't be returning. It doesn't seem like he knows how to take accountability and he's very condescending with his remarks. Doesn't even seem to want to offer a resolution. He keeps trying to say everyone is talking about a different store. No, it's your store on 601 State Street.
So, I've been a customer here at 601 State Street for years. I always place by phone and pick it up because I never feel welcome when I come. I usually spend between $30-$40 on food just for myself. I've actually taken breaks from La Bamba a few times during the years. I'll have a bad experience and just eat somewhere else for a while. After my experience on 2/03/23 I will NOT return and I will NOT recommend.
The Hispanic women in the front are very rude. However, it's only to some people. Once I came in to pick up my order, I said, "Hey, how are you? Are you having a good day?" The girl blatantly ignored me. It was so obvious that the Hispanic guy at the other counter immediately interjected and began having a conversation with me. He never addressed her attitude though. It was unprofessional and unnecessary. I worked in the restaurant business for years so I always try to be polite and considerate of what they go through, being I'm on the customer end now.
So on Friday 2/03/23, I called in an order for 2 steak quesadillas with tomato & 2 beef & cheese burrito with no red sauce. They said 15 min. I arrived in 15min. I provided my order# and the girls don't even address me, they address each other, spoke in Spanish and began to laugh. I know Espanol, and they didn't say anything about me but it was still uncomfortable and I still had to wait another 15min. I did, and that's not a big deal. I went ahead and paid for my food with a card. It was $26.16. I finally get my food and check it and realize I was given chicken quesadillas instead of steak. Again, no problem, I simply go inside and politely ask for it to be swapped out. One of the girls grabs the bag, no apology but a really irritated sigh. She takes it to the back and I wait another 10min for the food. That was fine. While I waited, I noticed how the girls were greeting the white people coming inside. Pleasant voices and beautiful smiles. Then a black girl entered and was also totally ignored. When I left, I realized I had actually been charged $31.39. I called the next day and the manager apologized and said he'd call back. He didn't call back, but he did fix it. I intend to upload the receipt from la Bamba and the transaction from my card.
You need to hold your greeters, or whatever their title, accountable.
This is why I will Not go back to any La Bamba locations. Santa Fe and El Monterrey are usually better anyway, they just aren't close to me, but I'll make the travel to pay for better service. I'm a confident woman so I have nothing to prove to Insecure Latinas. Beauty wise or Hands wise. I'm not an immature child so I don't mind taking my...
Read moreIf I could give this restaurant zero stars for today’s performance I would. Let me begin by saying I used to come to La Bamba every Tuesday and Thursday (prior to covid) because it was a five minute commute from my job to the restaurant. They typically are fast and busy due to the affordable pricing and the quality of food.
Today my friend invited a few of us La Bamba to celebrate Cinco de Mayo (which also happens to be my best friends birthday). Upon arrival we had a long wait (which was to be expected, everyone has the same idea!) There were three adults (including myself) and one three year old child.
Chips were automatically given to us upon sitting down along with salsa. A male server came and took our drink orders. Adults ordered margaritas and watched while the three year old people ordered a pink lemonade. Everyone received there drink besides the three year old...who immediately was confused and sadden why her beverage did not come. We tried to flag down the waiter multiple times but nothing came about.
Finally after about 20 minutes the 3 year old gets her drink but one of the adults complained that her margarita was the wrong flavor. Frustrated the waiter grabbed the drink (with out asking us if we were ready to order food) The corrected margarita comes to the table finally and the waiter walks away unconcerned with the fact we still have yet to order food.
Another 15-20 minutes pass and I flag down the waiter asking if he can take order. I witness him taking others orders, clearing tables, assisting new arrivals, ect and we are unable to get refills, place an order or ever get a reliable party to acknowledge us.
I asked for a manager and manager was very dismissive. I understood today was a busy day but as a paying customer there is still a way to go about handling unset or disappointed customers. We simple wanted to order food. The manager was able to place our order but at that point I decided not to place anything and let the others order. I instead asked for my bill. It was another 30 minutes passing before I received that bill.
This is the last time I’ll ever be at La Bamba the utter disrespect was uncanny. I again understand that this was a very busy day for staff but this is also a day that they knew was...
Read moreI really like this place for good Mexican food. Place is centered in a strange shopping area suite on a sloping hill, but other than that, it offers an amazing authentic Mexican experience. They offer both hot and mild salsa choices. The hot isn’t too bad and is flavorful, while the mild is bland and similar to Pace picante. Plates here range from $9 for lunch specials to $10-$25 for dinner meals. For dinner, we ordered their grilled chicken taco plate, a carne asada, some American style tacos, and the Fajita Texana. Everything tasted well except the Texana. I asked for some fresh onion and cilantro to add some flavor to it and that totally did the trick. They offer typical appetizers such as nachos, queso, guacamole (not a fan, btw as it doesn’t have tomatoes and is extremely creamy) and even hot wings as an appetizer, although I didn’t get to try them. The meals are like any traditional Mexican restaurant dinner and they offer both refried beans and black beans (these are not great-no flavor at all) and even have vegetarian meals as well. We ordered their margaritas, one strawberry and one lime flavor. The lime flavor one seriously packed a punch while the strawberry one was borderline virgin. Hubby ordered 3 lime ones and was out for the count for the night. The service here is extremely good as everyone tends to pitch in and help out to provide a great guest experience. Sorry, no review on the deserts, but they do offer flan and sopapillas. I’ll definitely provide an update on some other things I try, as this will be my New Mexican spot while...
