This was my first time visiting ā€œHome Groundsā€. The shop does have a nice inviting and comfortable atmosphere. The space is clean and airy and would be great if you are looking for a quiet place to enjoy your drink and snack while you work or maybe meet up with friends. There are several chairs positioned at a bar height table facing the street that looks out onto the street. There is also a bar at the barista counter with several seats. There are a few tables with chairs situated alongside the right wall and within a central area closer to the front of the shop, there is a sofa and a couple of other chairs grouped in like a ā€œfamily roomā€ arrangement, unfortunately, there are no tables alongside nor in front of the chairs - only little ones on the ends of the couch. There are a few wall decorations. One showcasing the shop name which is over the wall behind the comfy looking couch and another showcasing the shop and staff which is on the opposite wall. Along the wall with the staff showcasing, there is a small table serving as a bookshelf with several books to enjoy while in the shop. There is also shelving holding decorative items as well as ā€œHome Groundsā€ merchandise. The merchandise consists of sweatshirts and t-shirts. On this particular visit, there was only one staff member available (as far as I could tell). It was not busy at all, there was one individual sitting at a window spot enjoying their purchase and there was a party of 3 sitting at the furthest table to the back of the shop. The barista was preparing the order for the party of three. Although I was in no rush, she did stop to take my order. At this point, one individual from the party of three came up to ask how much longer on their order because they were in a rush. The barista was fabulous and completed there orders and then started my order. The barista, so sorry I didn’t catch her name, was helpful in answering my questions about my items. I ordered from the Spring Time menu choosing a Honey Lavender latte made with Oat Milk and a cinnamon roll flower. Both were delicious. The pricing was reasonable for the location. I did have a hard time reading the menu on the wall. The lettering is rather small. And although there are laminated paper menus on the countertop, they too are rather small in print. I were glasses and I had a slight struggle. There is also a back exit to the gravel parking lot outback. There is no parking in the front of the shop - only in the back or across the street in a designated parking lot for all of the street’s shops. I will return as they are very close to several other shops that I frequent on the street and my order was delicious and the service was great.

My friends and I were waiting outside this weekend for Mizumi and I recognized this cafe across the street from TikTok. We were very excited to try it! 3 of us got the pumpkin lattes, one got a regular iced coffee and then a iced matcha latte! When I tell you AMAZING. I tried my friends matcha and I don’t even like matcha…. Delicious!!! The pumpkin was soo perfect and not too sweet. The baristas were so nice to us and helpful even though it was busy. It is so cute inside also! It was very busy and because we needed to be outside because we were waiting for our table for dinner, we were told the big patio in the back is ok to sit at. Which seems to be the case based on pictures here too! It was super cute but this old man kicked us out after bothering us for a few minutes about an umbrella which we did not even touch! There was two people on the corner with coffees who told us he harassed them too and always does and that he owns one of the businesses on state! So we just stood in front of Mizumi with our delicious coffees staring at him. I don’t think he wanted us to have coffee there so I will be coming here more often to use the backyard!! šŸ˜‚ home grounds customers unite!

I loveee this place! A lot of people don’t realize the patio behind the strip is communal (except during special events), so not only do you get to enjoy the beautiful minimalist coquette decor inside, you can enjoy a pretty garden patio too! This coffee shop is a total hidden gem on State Street with truly excellent coffee. They use Vignette espresso which is a big plus for me, and their drinks are always consistent. They make a perfect cortado and cappuccino, and the staff are also super sweet, always friendly and accommodating. I will petitionnnnn for them to keep the drift and drizzle on the menu forever, it’s by far the best specialty coffee drink I’ve had anywhere and I get it at least 3x a week. This is my plea to the young women who own the place to keep it on! My friends and family are addicted. This place misses absolutely nothing, just give them a try and you’ll get it. Edit: We didn’t know his name but we do now - Luke is amazing and unbelievably nice every time we come in. He’s an amazing addition to this place!
