Waited 1 1/2 hours for a two person breakfast. The four different couples in our area all waited over an hour. Requested to speak to the manager as I could see all staff busy in the back running to take orders, bus tables, and work the cash register. I spoke with the manager, Craig or Greg, and asked him why we didn't see him helping them up front. A very prideful man, he did not take calm criticism or suggestions well. I requested he do something for the staff to show his appreciation to them. Gift cards, buying them lunch or dinner, flowers or a card. Anything as without staff he would have a job. The small mindset of the manager refused. He instead refused responsibility for how his shift was running. Instead of owning the responsibility and taking it to heart I had to listen to how he has seven kids and works hard. I have news for you Craig/Greg. If you show your staff appreciation staff will work even harder for you. Owners of this Denny's should consider training this manager. If the employees really felt cared for and appreciated it would be easy to get more staff in a college town through employee word of mouth. The manager refused to listen or consider my suggestions asking me to pay my bill and leave. So, I gave my server and another server who was constantly running between three job areas a twenty dollar tip and praised them for trying to help the customers so much. Good luck owners of this Denny's location. The cook and front staff are not the problem. When a manager doesn't help in the front and is to prideful to say thank to his staff, in my opinion, that manager is the problem! Going to "Harvey's, the breakfast place." across the street as I did the day before. Looks a bit run down but the food is good and the multi culture environment...
Read moreThis review is about the employees mostly. Food was good but it wasn't what we ordered. We just didn't ask for them to be fixed because we had already been waiting for an hour and honestly didn't want to cause the only 2 good employees more stress. Men's restroom (so I was told) and restaurant was mostly clean. I didn't see the females restroom.
While we were waiting, some people who had waiting only 3 minutes walked out without paying because no one was paying attention. When we left, we waited like 10 minutes to pay and that was after we asked if the dishwasher was drunk and the first girl who had been yelling the entire time about customers and cursing so everyone was disturbed walked out on us in the middle of paying. The poor female cook was just doing her best to keep working and the only other waitress, our waitress, is about to give birth in March and was working 5 times harder. She was so sweet and nice, kept her professional attitude after learning she was left alone. That girl deserves a raise. We gave her and the cook a tip. The first girl needs to be fired. I know what a restaurant is like, I've worked plenty. Her behavior was just ridiculous.
This place needs someone to come in and help. Thank God for the pregnant girl and the cook that night. Granted it was Christmas night so they were busier than normal earlier I'm sure, however when we were in, there were only 3 other tables and these 2 girls were doing everything on their own (cook and waitress). I'm not even sure what the first waitress was doing the entire time, we barely seen her other than when she began yelling at the top of her lungs about the customers who had just left or were rude to her. I heard no customers being rude to her, I think she was just taking...
Read moreThis is the 2nd time I've been to this location. First, I counted as a fluke, but I cannot hold back on the terrible service that I've experienced again. I ordered online and arrived on time for picking up my order. I wasn't allowed to wait at the front, but I had to go to the end of the bar where I tried to sit down in a chair, and was asked to get up to sit a group when there were plenty of other empty tables they couldve been seated. Meanwhile, another person picking up an online order had their food taken to them at the front, but myself and others had to go to the end of the bar? That doesn't make sense. While waiting for my order for 10-15 minutes (standing the entire time), there was one waitress who was rude to the cooks and to customers behind their back. I understand working in customer service and you have experiences where you need to tell a co-worker just to get it off your chest, but do it away from other customers. This was unprofessional and I told her so. On top of this, their food has gone down in quality and doesn't taste as good as it used to. A suggestion I would give this place, find a better solution to customers who are picking up online orders. Let them sit in the front (like most other places), and simply bring them their order after they tell you their name. Having them stand in the middle of other customers being served can be uncomfortable not for them but for staff trying to move around them.
For all future customers, do yourself a favor and just drive the extra few minutes to...
