My recent visit to Kasturi Indian Restaurant was one of the most uncomfortable dining experiences I’ve ever had. Before coming, my friend had confirmed with the restaurant that kids five and under eat for free and that there was a discounted children’s price. However, when it was time to pay, things took a turn for the worse.
The man at the register questioned us about our son’s age and then went to get the waitress, who returned with an attitude that was impossible to ignore. I had already told him that my son was eleven years old, but after speaking to him in their native language, she suddenly changed the policy, saying that the child’s price was only for ages 5-10. This information was never given to my friend beforehand, and the way they handled it felt off—almost like they were trying to catch us in something rather than simply clarifying their policy upfront. My friend’s husband tried to lighten the mood by jokingly asking me if I had my son’s birth certificate.
Despite the uncomfortable situation, I tried to pay the adult price for both my son and pay for my daughter, but after their unnecessary interrogation and hostility, they finally said it was fine. By that point, the damage had already been done—the entire interaction left us feeling disrespected and unwelcome. Even my 11-year-old picked up on it, saying, “I don’t think we will be going back there because of the food, and I don’t know what that lady said, but I know it wasn’t nice.” Her attitude was clear to everyone.
On top of the poor service, the food was completely underwhelming, especially for the price. My daughter took two bites and was over it, my son had about five before giving up, and these are kids who have eaten all over the world—they know good food when they taste it. My friend, her husband, and my entire family were unimpressed. To make matters worse, I have health restrictions that prevent me from eating much, so I only ordered an appetizer, but I could feel that waitress watching me the entire time, as if I needed to explain why I wasn’t eating more.
Overall, the experience was uncomfortable, the service was rude, and the food was forgettable. With so many amazing restaurants out there, I can confidently say we...
Read moreI recently dined at Kasturi based on a recommendation from a friend, and unfortunately, the experience left much to be desired.
Starting with the food, it was a mixed bag. The quality of the dishes was acceptable, but a noticeable pattern emerged – it felt as though they used the same gravy or curry base for every item on the menu. This resulted in a lack of diversity in flavors, and it left me wanting more distinct tastes from each dish.
On the positive side, the service at Kasturi was commendable. The staff was attentive, responsive, and seemed genuinely interested in ensuring our dining experience was as pleasant as possible. They were one of the few highlights of the evening.
Regrettably, the atmosphere was a letdown. While the restaurant attempted to exude a high-end vibe with its elevated prices, it missed the mark when it came to ambiance. My wife and I frequent upscale establishments across the country, appreciating their tranquil and refined settings, complete with dim lighting and soothing background music. However, Kasturi presented the exact opposite. The blaring music was irritatingly loud, and the atmosphere was anything but peaceful due to the disruptive noise from the owner's family, including shouting, screaming, and crying. This entirely shattered the intended dining experience and made it far from enjoyable.
Speaking of prices, this was another aspect that left me dissatisfied. The cost of the food was notably high, particularly when considering the demographics of the area. While it's understandable that high-end restaurants can command a premium, it's important to offer an experience that justifies these prices. Unfortunately, Kasturi did not meet this expectation, as the overall experience – from the lackluster food variety to the cacophonous atmosphere – did not align with the premium prices.
In conclusion, my visit to Kasturi was disappointing. While the service was a bright spot, the lack of diversity in flavors, disruptive atmosphere, and mismatch between prices and experience left much to be desired. For those seeking an upscale dining experience that offers more than just high prices, Kasturi might not be the...
Read moreOk for starters let me tell you guys that when It comes to knowing different varieties of food and how they should taste I am your man. I have been eating at culturally diverse restaurants for years and have endulged my taste buds in a variety of different foods. Katsuri from the outside looks just like any other modern day restaurant. But the feeling you get when you walk in the door and are greated by someone who actually looks like they should work there is when you start to lose a few of the butterflies in your stomach that you may have gotten when you decided to try something new. I met a guy named vinnie whos accent threw me a curveball right iff of.the bat. An indian man from the UK, I didn't even realize that that was a real thing. Lol. But as you begin to mingle with this guy and you here the soft suttle tone of his voice it makes you feel like you are about to be treated to not just a good meal but a good experience. Too many restaurants have lost the ability to connect with the customer and give them more than just a meal. So let's not stop there because yes there is more to this place than just good.service. There is also overwhelmingly good food. Thete is no short of variety when It comes to flavor here and the way it all comes together is a work of art. Great service, great food, and an atmosphere that makes you feel like these people just take pride in what they do and where they work. If you havent taken the frightful leap it may seem that you have to take to try something new then you will will never experience anything better than the same old same old. "The juice is worth...
