I’ve been debating writing this review but I feel my experience should be shared in hopes that someone else doesn’t receive the same awful food that I did. I’ve eaten here multiple times prior to this visit and have always been very happy with the food, service and ambiance. The food I received on this visit was awful compared to prior visits. I ordered the brisket egg rolls, chips & salsa, street corn on the cob and my child got the kids beef taco with fries. The chips and salsa were okay, nothing special. The street corn was great as always, though a very small cob for the price point. However, the brisket egg rolls were the worst part of my experience. The brisket itself was dry and tasteless. The menu also states that the egg rolls have queso mac, grilled onions and peppers & fire roasted chilis which I wouldn’t know because they were so slam packed with the dry brisket that I couldn’t find a single one of the other ingredients. The menu also states the egg rolls are served with queso for dipping, which they were but the queso I received was cold and clumpy more resembling wet cement than the delicious queso I was expecting from prior visits. I haven’t been here in a few months so I’m not sure if any management has changed since those prior visits. All that to say, if this would have been my first visit it would have also been my last. The only part of our food that we actually enjoyed were the French fries. The manager came by my table to apologize about the food and offered me a gift card to rectify my experience, though I declined because I did not want to come back to this location. The manager and my server were awesome and very nice, the food was the only issue.
Editing to respond to owner - I am so so sorry I did not add this in the original post, the egg rolls were removed from my check and I did not...
Read moreMy family and I decided to take a trip to the Greenville Zoo and we stopped in at Willy's on our way home. Right away I was attracted to the merch at the front and slowly browsed it on the way in. One of the hosts asked how many and I responded. My husband noticed that the Masters was being televised on one of the Tvs with a round top table near the bar and he asked me to ask if we could sit there, I asked the host and she stared at me blankly for a second, I was confused, and I wasn't sure she heard me until she responded with, "Well that table doesn't have a server." Which is completely fine! I have been in the service industry for a very long time, I even ran my own restaurant. I then asked if we could be put at a table that we could view one of the tvs that was showing it. Again, she looked at me strangely, so I responded with thats fine. It's really not that big of a deal. I thought the ordeal was unusual and it made me feel slightly uncomfortable. My daughter then told me that after I had asked another one of the hosts (red top, tie dye bike shorts) rolled her eyes when I had asked. If I knew it was going to be such an issue, I never would have asked, like I said, I know how it is in the service industry. Anyhow, we all sat down, our server was terrific! He was on top of our food and drinks, and his communication was fabulous. The brisket chimichanga was phenomenal. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The food came out in a timely matter. The atmosphere was also really chill. It really was a pretty cool place, especially since it was so open and had garage doors that allowed the outside breeze to come through. Glad...
Read moreOn my way to NC and made a stop since this was on the way to my destination. I saw great reviews and decided to stop by to check it out. My family all funny enough got the chilly Willy taco and all agreed that it is a fan favorite. We all loved it and it was just an explosion of flavors. It was crunchy shrimp with an Asian slaw, raddish, chopped cilantro, toasted sesame seed and a house crema. It was so balanced and the shrimp was truly crunchy and tender.
My only complaint is that I wish I had ordered the sauces on the side in my tacos. The tacos were a little too wet for my taste but at least I know for next time. The tacos were well balanced though and the sauces complemented them in such a way that it just came together beautifully. For starters the
I also had the southern tide and it was also delicious. It is crispy shrimp with apple wood smoked bacon cut up, pimento cheese, shaved lettuce, chipotle ranch and pico de gallo. I went for shrimp tacos because I wanted a light entree since I wanted to try the brisket egg rolls. The egg rolls were amazing! It had Mac and cheese and peppers and I would love to eat the filling inside of a sandwich because it was so comforting as an appetizer.
We came in a Wednesday at around 5-6pm and it was pretty empty. The ambiance is relaxing but eclectic . It's was cool to see the restaurant identity and atmosphere on a weekday. Two tacos per person is enough I believe but if you like to eat or it takes you awhile ti be full I think 3 tacos is perfect. I would come back and try their specialty items in their menu. Definitely worth a try if you are...
