Garden Catering - Old Greenwich — Restaurant in Greenwich

My GF is from Greenwich and grew up eating here, she’s been raving about it for years. So, it finally came time to try it and unfortunately, it was a pretty bad experience.

Walking up to the restaurant, the atmosphere of the place seems great, a tiny local chicken joint. The staff were busy, but they got our to-go order out pretty quickly. As for customer service, they weren’t rude or anything, just seemed too busy to care. “I think everything is in there” - guy at the counter 🤔

The problem was the food. We drove 5 min to our place and everything was cold by the time we opened it up. Both bags broke when we shook “the specials” and everything went onto the floor. 🤷‍♂️ The chicken tasted like a thicker chicken McNugget. That’s not a compliment. I’d say the fries could have been good if they were warm, so I’ll just imagine it. As for the chicken sandwich, they used tinfoil to wrap it up, so the sandwich was crushed. The bun only covered half of the sando and it was pretty forgettable. I could see if it had a couple more pickles, some sauce and if it was warm it would have a chance.

Overall, a pretty disappointing experience, hopefully the business takes a little more time to ensure their quality. I’ll give it another shot next time I’m in town.

And that’s not even the reason most locals have frequented this place for decades. People LOVE their nuggets, made from 100% white meat chicken, hand-cut daily and consistently cooked...

Okay, I love garden catering. My family have been eating from this place for years. But every time my order is taken by Mike Paoletta, he ruins my whole garden catering experience. He clearly lacks professionalism and definitely doesn’t give a damn about offering the best customer experience. Every time he takes my order, he does not follow my instructions such as please make sure all pieces of chicken are well cooked, do not put seasoning on the chicken because one of my children is allergic to the seasoning, he places the wrong drinks and he even writes my husband’s name wrong every single time. This has been happening several times and I find it very disrespectful. With so many new places opening in Greenwich and offering similar menus, I would say good bye and good luck to Garden catering.
