Illegal Pete's - DTC — Restaurant in Greenwood Village

We are long time regulars of the Illegal Pete's DTC location. We've been coming to this location for years - the service, food quality, and atmosphere have always made this one of our favorite spots to come for a mid-week dinner and marg.

However, for the last few weeks, when we have come in, there has certainly been a change in the restaurant. I, personally, bounce around between food options, and it seems like they're always out of one or two of the ingredients I want on that given day. My perception from looking around the restaurant is that there is too much catering to support the restaurant patron's options, the restaurant is not any busier than it has been and I see the catering boxes piled on top of tables.

The staff, both back of house and front of house, have had a sea-change in their mood. It doesn't seem like the fun restaurant we've grown to love -- all the sudden it seems much more corporate and like the team is stressed out.

I have noticed that the team has turned over more lately as well. The usual crew that we've been greeting for years have no longer been around, or their schedules are drastically changed to not be the team when we typically come in. The team that was here, even a few months ago, had regulars that came in excited to see them. It's just a bummer to see such a total rotation of staff.

Overall, take this for what it is -- this is just my perception from coming into the restaurant... and we're still coming... but it is just not the same Illegal Pete's we've...

This was my experience this evening

The ordering process here is honestly a waste of time and confusing. The workers are slow too. The visual I had was multiple ppl running around doing random things but not productive. No one had gloves on the food area was messy.. spills and it just didn’t look right. I would immediately wipe it down and make it look nice considering the wait time is so long and all I’m doing as a customer is staring at the food.

Proceed to pay and wait..I go ask they lady how much longer and she says a couple min and I’ll bring it to you. That same lady coming 9pm, when they close, I see her running from door to door locking and turning off signs, putting away sauces and chairs. And all I’m thinking is it’s been 10 min and where the heck is my food. There more concerned about getting the hell out then getting the food quickly to the last two customers waiting till they clean up!

Irrritaing I got up and walked to the counter and my food was sitting there no bag and sauces not even scooped in those little cups and ready to go. This is what I don’t get, you tell the customer Taquito’s take time, and in that time you don’t prep the orders bag with the sauces to get the food fastest ti the customer while it’s still hot! That’s what pisses me off. Laziness and this place is...

7-17-24 Have to change my review as this place is going downhill fast- even from 2-3 months ago. Food is very cold on arrival and I live 1 mile away. Sour cream had the consistency of glue and the potatoes tasted rotten (bad oil?). Half the rice was rock hard so I couldn’t eat the majority of it. I’d skip this place from now on- especially at night. The quesadilla was also so soggy I had to use a knife and fork.half of it was hard too. Also a delivery fee of 4.99$ to go 1 mile is insane. I let that go before when the quality of the food was good, but it isn’t anymore.

Previous good review: Ordered 2 burritos, a kids quesadilla and a side of chips and salsa and gamblers sauce on Friday and we just got through all the food. The burritos were massive and the kids quesadilla was great too. The large salsa and spicy ranch sides were big. The food tasted great as always. I’ve loved this place for years. The only downside was the size of the large chips wasn’t worth the price as the bag was only about 1/3 full and I wish they’d fill up the bag more, but we ordered late that day so maybe they were running out. Only other downside is the size of the burritos at this chain aren’t consistent as sometimes they are small and sometimes massive. This time they were massive though and absolutely...
