I'll remove this rating once management at Tavern acknowledges that the door guy is totally unprofessional. This guy, who I've nicknamed the pillsbury doughboy for obvious reasons, doesn't know how to speak to people entering this place. He's the WORST first impression an establishment can make, and he should be fired.
I mistakenly brought my expired passport instead of my renewed passport. (The expired passport is mine, the pic still looks like me, and it's a legit passport if you know anything about passports.) Instead of doughboy looking at it, and saying something like this:
"I'm sorry sir, this is an expired passport. We can't take this here. Do you have another form of identification?"
He says this:
"This is JUNK. It expired in 2011. We can't take this."
I responded: Looks like I brought the wrong passport, it's a legit passport, are you sure you can't take this?
"Nope." It's JUNK."
Sometimes exceptions can be made if you actually think outside the box. I'm 38 ... not 25. The passport is legit if you know anything about a passport. I think he thought he was a tough guy because there was a cop next to him. In reality, he's one of these guys that probably sits at home and plays video games when he isn't working the door.
I'd appreciate it if the owner would talk to doughboy who worked the door last night at 1 a.m., then respond in a civil manner. Maybe you can train him to use another word than "JUNK"?
Once the owner responds with an apology on doughboy's behalf, I'll remove the posting, and give this place a...
Read moreHORRIBLE. It is places like these that make me wish there was an option for for 5 thumbs down! My parents came to visit me from across the Country. They didn’t get in until about 8:00 pm. We got to this restaurant at approximately 9:00 pm on a Wednesday night (June 5, 2019). We were hungry and thirsty. We walked in... we were not greeted by ANYONE. There were people sitting at the bar and some of the tables surrounding the bar had people in them. We sat ourselves at a table by the bar- where we watched the female bartender stand in the corner of the bartending area, drink a smoothie from a plastic container (like one she would have brought from home), and talk to some people sitting at the bar. Didn’t see her work for a single moment, or even GLANCE around at the customers surrounding her to see if she could help them. Did not see a single other person that appeared to be “working” there. My parents and I left and went to another establishment after 15 minutes of no acknowledgement by this HORRIBLE bartender. I was so embarrassed I brought my parents to this restaurant. This bartender, and by extension this restaurant is an embarrassment to DTC, Greenwood Village and Denver. I will tell this story to every person who crosses my path to deter people from visiting...
Read moreDear Tavern, You suck. Working in the DTC I used to be a regular, at least once a week, for lunch. For the past 1 1/2 yr's I've avoided your establishment because you changed the menu - you took your best app (pickle chips) off the menu, started using frozen cheap meat, stopped washing the jalapeno's on the Volcano burger resulting in unbearable spiciness, a substantial decrease in the quality of the ingredients used.... etc. I thought I may be alone in my assessment but working in the area and observing your constantly empty parking lot during the lunch hours confirms my belief that a decent menu, with quality food, can make or break a restaurant. I can't say I'd recommend The Tavern if your looking for quality food. On the other hand if you're looking for a dimly lit sports bar with under-whelming food to kill some time... The Tavern might be right up your alley. I may try another location in hopes it's just the DTC Tavern, but can't say I'm in any...
