Food always 10/10 Service 6/16/19 10/10 Service 6/17/19 1/10
First of all: This is a great place, I come here more or less regularly. The food is always great and if there happens to be something not quite okay they fix it right away. The guys at this place do a great job and are always very friendly. But most of the girls have been very disappointing so far! We went there two days in a row and yesterday, on father's day, it was really busy. Unfortunately our hash browns came out cold and we had to wait for a hot chocolate forever. However, Julian, our server, did a great job to fix everything and Thomas, the manager, came by, apologized, took care of the hot chocolate and gave us a discount on our bill. The assistant manager, Daniela I believe, also stopped by to apologize. Today we went there again for our last day of vacation and, what shall I say, the service was horrible.. We got our drinks, coffe and iced tea (which typically comes in a carafe and with a slice of lemon but today the first round was just a glass, later we got the carafe w/o the lemon) and the (female) server walked away again without taking our order. It took her about 5 minutes to come back and ask if we wanted to eat something. The food was great, as always, but we weren't asked if everything was alright, not once. I honestly expected to be recognized again by the assistant manager who was there again and that they would be especially carful with our order today after yesterday's experience, but she didn't seem to notice. It is typical at this place that you can pay your check with your server or with the host and it is also typical that you get asked if you wanted your drinks to go. When our server told us we could pay with her or with the host, I did not have the feeling that she was going to ask or say anything else so I mentioned that we usually get offered our drinks to go. She did not hide at all that she was really upset by my comment. I even noticed how she mentioned something to a co-worker, which ultimately totally ruined any tip for her. She brought us a to go cup but no additional tea in a very unfriendly manner and we walked out with a half full cup of iced tea.
Again, the food has always been very good and the place is amazing when the right waiting staff is taking care of you. They have a rewards program and for every $100 spent you get $10.
I base my tip on the performance of the server and yesterday I tipped over 30% because they really deserved it. Today I tipped zero because I actually felt a little offended by our waitress' attitude towards the end, not to mention her low performance.
Finally, though, I have to point out that the girl running the host today, who ultimately took care of our check, was super friendly and had even applied our points to my account although I had forgotten...
Read moreVery disappointed. Came back into town after being gone for a while. The Delectable Egg was the last place we ate at before we left (original location) so of course we wanted to eat here again while visiting.
We were charged masks upon entering, yet nobody was wearing them inside. The staff was wearing them, though incorrectly so I have no idea why they forced us to wear them on the short walk to the table. If you are going to enforce wearing them, then shouldn't everyone be wearing them and correctly? I'm not an anti-masker, but to be charged when they weren't enforced correctly wasn't right. Half the staff was wearing them below their noses, and the other half didn't put on fresh ones after touching their faces when they adjusted them. Again, if you want to follow the rules, then shouldn't you do so correctly?
Anyway, we took our seats, the server, Nicole, was awesome. She was very attentive (this is why the rating isn't a 1-star). It took a while for our food, the restaurant was half full at the time, but we were patient.
The food was the main issue. The hashbrowns were cold on the edges, lukewarm in the middle. The poached eggs were small, hollandaise was bitter, and the egg muffin was burnt on both halves and white on the other half, like the toaster wasn't working right. The sausage patties have changed too. A bit smaller and very salty. Country gravy doesn't taste house made anymore. I don't return food at a restaurant, it is either good or it isn't. Why return food that should be checked before it leaves the kitchen?
Overall, very disappointed. The last 6 years have changed this place. I wish we didn't visit. I wish we still had the memories of the place we used to go to every Sunday afternoon. Now I'm just left with a bad taste...
Read more3 out of 4 things we ordered were incorrect or missing, including 1 item that was supposed to be GF and was NOT.
Ordered online, received confirmation and estimated time order would be ready. My husband went to pick it up - they couldn't find the order. They eventually did and got it ready.
Item#1 - Gluten-free pancakes Result - Regular pancakes - NOT gluten-free. Good thing I figured that out BEFORE I ate them. Do they have any idea how sick someone can get from eating gluten? They didn't seem to care they'd done this. Item#2 - Side of fresh fruit Result - Missing from order Item#3 - Scramble with only 1 request...that the onions be COOKED Result - Onions were RAW Item#4 - Orange juice Result - YAY! They managed to give us a cup of orange juice!
When I called, I was nice about it. They didn't seem to care. Said I could drive back in to get my money returned. I have just had neck surgery and my husband was busy. I said I would like to talk to a manager. I was put on hold and then hung up on. I called back. The manager was "short" with me on the phone. She didn't seem to care that they'd completely screwed up this order. She returned the money for the pancakes and fruit, but wasn't very nice about it.
Bottom line....we won't ever be ordering from this restaurant...
