Good food, abominable service. Large parties beware.
We made a reservation in advance for our large party, then we were told at the door that they don’t take reservations, that our reservation had been taken in error, and then had to wait for tables. Fortunately the wait wasn’t long.
Ordering was chaotic. The server wasn’t helpful, kept demanding orders from the members of our party that had never been to a restaurant like this before, and blocked the path between our two tables every time he came around, effectively preventing half our party from getting up for minutes at a time. He didn’t clear plates from our table as we ate, and the table got progressively more crowded. He also kept turning off our grills when we weren’t done with them, apparently ignoring the fact that there was still loads of uncooked food still on the table. Since the restaurant charges $12.99/lb of uneaten food, we were trying to be circumspect with how much food we ordered at a time. We told him that we were done ordering, but it should have been clear that we were not done eating.
The restaurant limits the dining time to 2 hours. That information is posted clearly at each table. What they don’t tell you is when the timer starts, and you are given no notice when you are approaching the limit. Towards the end of our meal, the manager came aggressively charging over and loudly informed us that we’d been there for over 2 1/2 hours and that we needed to leave. He told us that they give the check at the two hour mark, and seemed to expect that we were supposed to know that somehow. We’d been at the restaurant for less than two hours, and certainly weren’t at our tables for that long, so as best as we can guess they must have started the timer when the first people in our party arrived earlier than the rest of us and requested our table.
Serving a party as large as ours (12) is challenging enough on its own, so we would have been willing to forgive the poor service on the part of the server. We had two small children and a special needs adult in our party, which we are used to handling ourselves without issue. But to be loudly reprimanded by the manager in front of the entire restaurant was entirely uncalled for, especially when he doubled down and accused us of lying about how long we'd been there, continuing to escalate the conflict. He was antagonistic towards us from the start, and clearly didn't care about his customers. We'd all been looking forward to this dinner together, but what should have been the lovely end to a day of celebrating was marred by the overall negative experience at this restaurant. We will not...
Read moreMade a BIG MISTAKE eating out with my family at this restaurant, especially choosing the hot pot.
Service : it was alright but not up to my expectations as the server was nice but he won’t tell us or inform us anything unless we asked. And when we do ask, the answers were very short and blunt with no more added info. This could be a bad experience for first diners at this type of restaurant. The server only checked in once during the meal and did not seem like he wanted to be there. Also he brought out the least amount of meat I have seen for five people while other server bringing lots of meat plate for the couple across us. Also 2 hr to finish eating these is crazy because we felt so rushed.
Food Choices: you could choose bbq or hotpot or both. We went there thinking we could choose whatever we wanted instead of the whole table being able to choose only ONE OPTION (for example you can not choose bbq and other people choosing hot pot) Which did not make sense to us bc we are all paying individual prices for each person since both of the burners are also on one table.
Food: rice was okay but one of the rice looked old and was dry. AFTER the individual prices and asking us what kind of meat we wanted for the hotpot (we wanted pork and beef) the server brought only THREE plates of thin meat for 5 people initially ??? (We saw a couple came in after us who also order hotpot, and they got like more than three plates and full of meat on the plate from the start). Also the server did not inform us at all how many kind we can order or how many plates is per each person. The server asked us if we wanted more meat BUT IT WAS WHEN ITS TOWARDS THE END OF THE MEAL! LIKE WHAT? Which doesn’t make sense at all because how were we supposed to if we were supposed to ask or the initial meat was all??? We got Thai Tom Yum which was supposed to be spicy and all but it tasted very watered down. You could definitely make it at home cheaper and MUCH TASTIER! The variety for hot pot ingredients were SO LITTLE it doesn’t deserve to be call buffet😭I was so disappointed. Go to the Homie Hot Pot for much better variety and cheaper price.
Overall we were all unpleased but it might or could be different if you order bbq. Hot pot was so...
Read moreReally really good food. You have to try this on a fun time out or dinner date. The meat they serve is fresh and can be served at any portion size you choose (they'll do their best). Being as it was my first time trying Korean bbq our waitress was very friendly and helpful. There's ALOT of selections in meats, chicken, pork, seafood, hot pots, drinks and veggies too. If you have room there's tiny ones on the buffet bar for dessert but I can't see most using it since they have all you can eat brought to you to cook fresh as you choose to do yourself. It was an interesting and great idea especially to be brought out in a city where everything has been tried by us and it's getting boring here eating out. Thank you for the hospitality and new experience!!!!
Otherwise .... I think people saying in previous reviews saying they got ill here or food poisoning are maybe sticking with the same tongs they give you originally and scissors. Our waitress had told us we could have more if we wanted just to let her know. Immediately to avoid the cross contamination we asked and we had 2 extra pair of scissors and 2 extra set tongs. 2 sets were for cooking and the other used for raw meats. I did see other tables not doing the same reasoning so my assumption was made is may be why is all. Your parchment paper is available to be changed as often as you want too but I'd suggest letting if get browner before asking for more. All the meats were in great condition and something I'd pick for my family js
FYI .... If you waste a bunch of meats there is (fairly) a $ 12.99 per lb charge. If you're not that hungry wait until you are and try here lol.
ALSO: if you order bbq and hot pot or just the bbq your whole table gets the same thing. You can't switch one person bbq only and a friend order both hot pot and bbq. It's all for the same table...
