Long John Silvers Buckle up and make sure you're comfortable because this is going to be a bit of a long story. It all started in late April. I had a few minutes to spare and decided to go to long John silver for my lunch. I pulled up to the drive-through and said that I would like two fish tacos one Baja and the other salmon. They asked if I'd like two make it a combo with a soda and some kind of bowl. I didn't want that, I just wanted two fish tacos. They asked me if I would mind pulling into a spot so they could make it fresh. I didn't have a problem with that. I've been to other fast food chains where they ask you to pull off to the side. About five minutes have gone by and other customers have ordered through the drive-through paid and gotten their food and left promptly. A couple moments later an employee came out to me at the car and asked "Are you getting the bowl?" I told her no I just want the two fish tacos. An additional five minutes have passed once 15 minutes to come up. I called the phone number on the receipt and asked did they forget me. Whoever answered, the phone said no they(cooks) burned the first batch and they are making it fresh now. So I told the employee that I didn't have time to be sitting around and that I would like a full refund a few moments later, and employee came out to my car and gave me a refund receipt and the cash of my order. On the receipt, there was a way go to their website and tell them how they did. So I did and told them exactly what happened how I couldn't even review the food because I didn't get any and that it was a complete fail. The website said "we are sorry that we did not meet your expectations" and that they will contact me for further request of information. Two weeks of gone by with no reply via text or email. So I went to the website ended up doing the same review and tell them how they failed. Again they said they will get in contact with me. An additional week has gone by going all over their website. I finally found a phone number that I could contact them directly. I left a message and told them I needed to be contacted about my experience at this restaurant. They had failed me at the restaurant and now with their lack of contacting me they failed me as a corporation. A couple days later I get a phone call from what I can only assume was the store manager that they related the my phone number and called me. I relayed to the store manager my displeasure with any lack of urgency to get me my food on time and the response from the company. She noted down all of my information and said, how can we make it up to you? "How about dinner for me and my daughter" I asked. And that I would be in the next day. My daughter and I went to the website to look at the menu so we knew what we wanted before we went in. We both wanted the same exact thing we wanted the grilled salmon and shrimp with rice with a side of hush puppies. My daughter waited for me in the car and I sat in the restaurant. It took them 25 minutes for them to give me my order to go. We get the food home and find that the salmon and shrimp were so overcooked it was inedible. My daughter told me that this is even worse than school food. And we did not receive the hush puppies. I have just come to the conclusion that I will never eat at this, nor any long John silver...
Read moreSatisfied customers tell 3 friends and Dissatisfied ones tell 3,000. This is the title of a book and it is likely true. Maybe over the next 10 years 3,000 folks will read this. I don't tend to leave reviews unless the service is spectacular or awful, and this really qualifies.
I've been a faithful patron of the Long John Silver's at 2191 Independence Drive in Greenwood, Indiana since it was opened years ago, in spite of various mistakes made in the drive through. What fast food joint doesn't make a mistake now and then? But no longer. On Thursday May 2nd I spent 15 minutes driving to this restaurant and arrived at 9:56p.m. I opted for the drive through. There was a vehicle in front of me and the menu board was still on. After sitting at the menu for 3 minutes with no response, I pulled forward and saw the other car leaving with their food. I pulled to the drive-through window. It seemed that they were hiding from me since no one came. Don't they get a sensor warning when a vehicle is in the drivethrough? I backed up slightly and got out of the vehicle to go inside and order, but the door has already locked - this had to have been done well before their 10p.m. closing time.
As I went to open it an employee came to the door and I informed him I had been waiting in the drive through for four minutes but no one helped me. "Uh, let me go get my manager", and he relocked the door, leaving me no choice but to pull up to the drive-through window. The manager came to the window to speak with me. I informed her the same, and it was 10:01p.m. at this moment. She responded that the oil vats are all turned off, she is busy with inventory, and they've been having problems with their headsets. Yes, instead of offering to take my order, she offered up three excuses instead.
I insisted I was present prior to closing and, while I sympathized that they all want to go home, I'd like to order something. Specifically, I would have spent $20 with them on their new baked cod dinners. She again replied "I'm sorry but the vats are all turned off now and we cannot make you anything". I politely responded that I would go elsewhere for dinner and would not be coming back. That $20 and my future business went to the Steak & Shake on Smith Valley Road, where the drive through attendant was extremely patient, helpful, and she even smiled twice.
To summarize I cannot recommend the Long John Silver's on Independence Drive. If they don't have the patience and concentration to serve customers during normal business hours because of inventory, because of vats being turned off, or headsets intentionally being turned off, one has to wonder if they are properly cooking the food at this...
Read moreThis place has been, since I moved to Greenwood over a year ago, been going down the drain.
On several occasions I've had to wait upwards of 30 minutes for my food, and afterwards there's always an issue with it. Either it's missing food, the wrong food, or entire orders are missing, and the cashier will act inconsiderate or inconvenienced by me when I tell them.
The most infuriating thing is the wait time for food. I remember, vividly, when we went through the drive through the first time after moving up. My wife, me and my two young children had to wait in the car for an hour to get our food. There was no sign posted that they were understaffed, no one explained before we paid that there would an unusual wait time. They just told us to park and they'd bring it out.
Long story short, it was a very long time since we came back. Unfortunately, we have ourselves to blame partly, because we never learned from our previous experiences.
I believe waits would be dramatically reduced if you could place orders online for pickup (not GrubHub or delivery services) or if they would stop prioritizing pickups for drivers. I've had to wait on 3 occasions before even being able to order food for the cashier to finish dealing with a driver and their pickups.
It's just not customer friendly or focused. If I take the time to actually come to the restaurant, my time should be considered valuable. Stop wasting it and my patience.
It will be a long time before I go back, hopefully when they are under new management or actually staff the building to meet its business demands. What's their business plan is right now, it's living on...
