First things first. My wife and I have been twice already within about a weeks time. The Bento box I had the first time was so good it was enough to make me want to go back. I had tempura chicken bento the first visit and my wife had the teriyaki salmon. They were both amazing. This chef did a great job on the tempura, it appears he has had some formal training and has bad plenty of practice to get it get it right each time. I know this because my wife chose the tempura chicken on our second visit and it was spot on displaying a level of consitancy. I also decided to try the tempura vegtables apetizer and again, perfect ,light crispy tempura with all the peaks and valleys that signify he knows what he is doing. I would highly recommend any of these dishes, espechially the Bento box. The bento box include 4 piece basic chef choice sushi, gyoza , rice and side ginger salad and few fresh orange slices. There is an ample amount of food on the bento box and the price beats many fast food restaaurants, good healthy food on a budget. Tonight I decided to take a step in a new direction and try the beef ramen. Ramen is one of those dishes that many people will be critical about because it's not like the last place they had it claiming it's not authentic, that is silly. Ramen has a lot of tradition and many are very similar, however in my exerience having lived in Japan for some time I know it's different and unique in every establishment. This ramen is no exception to that rule it is very unique and surprisingly good. I was taken aback for a moment when it was first brought to the table, the egg was crispy fried egg and not soft boiled egg. However after a brief conversation with the owner, because he was the one serving our table, not because I had any complaints he was gracious and explained to me why he does it that way so I went with it and gave it a shot. It worked, it really worked although the outter white was crispy and brown the yolk was still creamy smooth and had the bright golden hugh you would expect from a soft boiled tea egg. I was pleasantly surprised and happy. The broth was fantastic. The only improvements I would like to see is the actual beef sliced much thinner and added while it's rare to let it finish off to a medium rare in the broth. If you a fan of ramen give it a try. I leave it up to you to decide if it's a dish you like or not. Now, the menu could use some refinement. The menu doesn't neccessarily make it crystal clear what is in each sushi roll , it states the main type of fish seafood the roll is based on. You will have to ask if you want the specifics. I think someone mentioned the have considered updating the menu due to this very reason. A solution to this would be to either just ask as I previously mention or another option is to just try many different ones on the a la carte style all you can eat sushi dinner or even save a little money and stop by for lunch. Take some mental notes as to the ones you particularly like, because I am certain you will be back again in the future. The dinning room is fresh, clean and cozy without being cramped or cluttered. I really like the simple yet pleasing atmosphere and I do plan on going back when I am hungry enough to try the all you can eat sushi dinner. I believe this is a family owned and operated establishment where the entire family plays a roll and to me that is a bonus, I will gladly spend my money in an establishment that values family. I hope they do well and remain a part of the...
Read moreOkay. Here we go with another food-coma worthy rant of epic proportions! Saddle up, my little pinecones. Because today we are in Greer, SC (pronounced Grur if you're cousins with your mom or talk like me). First impression was "why is the parking lot empty?" I want you to know I am now 4 pieces shy of finishing my second roll and I still can't figure it out. This place should be hopping constantly. As soon as we stepped inside we were warmly greeted by at least 3 employees. Each one was smiling and made pleasant eye contact. I wrote it off at first. They're not busy, they can, right? I would have been wrong to double down on that thought. That level of hospitality, courtesy and service hasn't let up at all during the visit. So we get seated by an angel of a girl who I'd wager would soften the most bitter heart in moments. We are presented with 3 small menus; drinks, dinner menu, and specials. No wasted space. Despite my reluctance toward a lengthy menu every inch was put to use. Wide selection without trying to be something it's not. My excitement grows. There's no sweet tea so I get Dr. pepper because the doc and sushi go great together. Fight me. Per usual I go for Miso soup. Cucumber salad with ginger dressing and a color dragon roll because I need eel sauce like meth heads need Jesus. I won't go into detail but we know I know food and I'm going to go ahead and say this is the reigning sushi spot in my life as of today. Fresh fresh fresh ingredients!!! Real wasabi, fresh seafood, not frozen. They probably mixed up the Dr Pepper themselves y'all. Start to finish I grunted with pleasure with every bite to the point that hot wife gave me "the look". I shut up but I still made that sound in my heart. So I got another roll; Angry Dragon Roll. Y'all if fried chicken and sushi had a chill baby and it grew up to be the next Nick Cage this would be that baby! I don't know what I mean by that. The food is setting in and I want a nap and another roll to go but hot wife says I need to "stahpitdoodforreal" and we're going shopping. So come get you some food but bring a cooler so you can get some ToGo rolls. Oh yeah the decor is great too. Very laid back environment. Loved this place. 6...
Read moreAlrighty, gather ‘round, folks! I just had the pleasure of dining at Ichiban All You Can Eat Sushi Buffet in Greer, SC, and let me tell you-it was a sushi sensation that really rolled with the punches. (See what I did there? Sushi puns are my roll model.)
For about $17, you get to eat all the sushi your heart desires. It’s like a buffet, but instead of fried chicken and mashed potatoes, it’s fish, rice, and seaweed-basically a fancy way to say, “I’m eating the ocean, but it’s socially acceptable.”
The atmosphere is nice and relaxed, perfect for a dad who likes to enjoy his meal without having to shout over a rock concert. The staff? Faster than me trying to grab the last piece of sushi before my kids do. They bring your orders out fresh, so you’re never stuck with sad, soggy rolls. It’s sushi served with a side of speed-no snail mail here!
The menu is a delightful spread of options. I tried the Ichiban Roll, which is crab, avocado, cucumber, topped with spicy tuna and tempura crunch. It was so good, I almost did a happy dance-don’t worry, I kept it classy. Plus, if sushi isn’t your jam, they’ve got fried rice and crab Rangoon, so even picky eaters can join the party without feeling like a fish out of water.
Heads up: there’s a 15-piece nigiri limit, so pace yourself unless you want to roll out of there like a sushi burrito. And don’t waste food, or they’ll charge you extra-because nobody likes a wasabi waster. Remember, eat what you can, or your wallet might feel the sting!
In short, Ichiban is a sushi lover’s dream and a dad joke enthusiast’s paradise. Great food, great price, and enough rolls to make you say, “That’s how I roll!” If you’re in Greer and hungry, sushi-go to Ichiban. It’s un-brrr-lievable! (Okay,...
