L'incanto overall was a positive experience. Having never been here before and reading the reviews, the expectations were high.
We were asked a total of four times if we were celebrating a special occasion and we let them know it was an anniversary each time. We assumed this meant that they were going to give us a small dessert or something (like many other restaurants) but nothing ever came of it nor was it mentioned again. Why even ask? 🤷♂️
The atmosphere in the front looked nice but the back mostly looks like a typical restaurant. Any other time we've gone to a more expensive place they put a lot of emphasis on the atmosphere.
Service was great. Our waitress was knowledgeable on the dishes we asked about and made suggestions based on her personal tastes and the most popular items other customers have ordered.
We ended up getting filet mignon and bolognese as our entrees along with the bread appetizer and the ravioli. The bread (as another review points out) seemed to be a basic pre-cooked bread rather than a fresh miniature loaf like you would expect from other fine dining restaurants. The ravioli was pretty good for what it was and had great flavor... it actually acted as a much better base to dip the bread into compared to the supplied oil/vinegar.
Our entrees (supposed to be the star of the show) were a little disappointing. The waitress passively said the chef had worked in a Michelin star restaurant at some point when we said we were first time diners (or something of the sort) so it immediately raised our expectations.
The bolognese was said to be one of the most popular dishes but can only be described as forgettable. No bold flavors and the noodles were a bit soggy/overcooked. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't great. I would not order it again though, I would for sure try something else.
The filet mignon was extremely tender and basically melted in your mouth... unfortunately, it was served rare instead of medium as ordered. The only pink was around the outside perimeter, while 3/4 of the piece of meat was a dark burgundy and what I would describe as warm. I'm not one to send food back so even though it was a great cut of meat (as far as I can tell) we ended up leaving at least half of a $60+ fillet on the plate. The mashed potatoes that came with the filet were fantastic and were easily the best food item between our entrees.
We did get some drinks and both of the drinks we got were great - if you end up going here I would definitely recommend the blueberry margherita.
All in all it was a positive experience but next time we're in the mood for "fine dining" we will likely...
Read moreBack again and still had the great service and food as before. The lobster ravioli was wonderful. I had the lambchop special served with mashed potatoes and a wine demi sauce it was fantastic.. the chops were breaded and pan Seared vs grilled. Everything was wonderful we can't wait to go back!
Living just a few miles from downtown Greer, and seeing it's growth lately I have been spending more time downtown. Saw this the other week and have been meaning to get in and finally did. I was very impressed with this new restaurant from the second we walked in to leaving. They have decorated this older building/spot very well and it is what I would consider casual chic.. modern but comfortable. The hostess at the front was very welcoming and seated us at one of their booths per my open table request. The restaurant was about 1/3 full at 7, about 1/2 full at 8.. several people eating at the nice/large bar as well. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and knew this was our first visit. He went over several specials, and some of his favorite menu items. My partner had a specialty martini and loved it. We settled on the egg yolk ravioli and escargot for appetizers. Both were amazing.. the escargot was described as garlic parsley sherry sauce.. it was not the usual cream sauce, this was a clear buttery garlic sauce.. very very good. For dinner I took the servers suggestion and had the pork chop. It was like an italian take on BBQ. The brown sauce was sweet and sour, very good. The pork chop was pounded and breaded which paired well with all of the sauce. My partner had the Bolognese, which was on the menu with Pappardelle pasta but had rigatoni/rotini. It was rather mushy but that was mainly due to the meat being shredded into the tomato sauce. It was AMAZING! Rich tomato taste while still flavorful with the veal and pork. We finished sharing a piece of Tiramisu which was decadent and delicious too. Atmosphere, service, and the food were all A+. The server mentioned Tuesday nights there is live Jazz performed in the front of the restaurant. Talk about making it perfect! We will...
Read moreThe bread...your basic foodservice loaf with your run of the mill olive oil/ balsamic dip. The appetizers and entrees were delicious and generous. However, the atmosphere was non-existent. From the grey pictureless walls to smileless servers, I felt like I was either at a funeral home or library or some odd combination of both. The chef left the kitchen and spoke to the table beside us, but I guess a $200 check for 2 people did not warrant a nod or "How was your meal?"....inquiry. We had indicated it was our first visit, we thought someone might inquire about our experience. We saw the owner pass us multiple times but no check in. Not important. We felt rushed as tables were being re-set around us and cleaning had begun. We finished our meal, skipping dessert due to feeling rushed at 8:50 and stated that we would like an after dinner drink. We were told the bar closed at 9pm and the bartender acted perturbed to make another drink ..so we opted out. Too bad that would have taken the check up another $30. The fact that the bar was closed at 8:50pm on a Thursday night with no bar guests attests to the fact that they have no bar business because there is no atmosphere and no effort to make guests want to linger. Fine dining is more than an eloquently worded menu, it is a warm welcome, an immersive experience of taste and smell, and a friendly exchange between the customer and server. It is a dining experience and a fond farewell. Maybe it was an off night, or maybe this was the best it gets. You can get good food at many restaurants. It is not enough to warrant a return. Either way the night will be remembered for being unmemorable. We went down the street to "Select" for dessert, an after dinner drink and a sense...
