We've been to Mario's 3 Sundays in a row and absolutely LOVE the place. Let's start with the chips and salsa. The chips are good, pretty much on par with most Mexican joints. The salsa is exceptional, I tend to stick with the hot. The mild is ok, a little tame for me as it should be, but the hot is some of the best I've ever had.
Next the food. My first trip I started with the Burrito California. Burrito California is usually what I search for in every Mexican restaurant and it's what I go to every time. They usually have a lot of similarities, but almost always have a few twists. This one is your choice of chicken or steak (I go steak) with rice, beans, sour cream, lettuce, tomatoes and covered with queso. Honestly this one is the least like most Burrito Californias that I've had, but it just works. It's so fresh and just tasty it's a winner for sure.
Next time I checked out the Lomeli Special. It's steak, chicken and shrimp cooked with jalapeños (not spicy), onions and tomatoes over a bed of Mexican rice and covered in queso. It comes with flour tortillas as well. Let me tell you folks it's incredible. My new favorite hands down, I love it!!
Finally the service. It's about the best I've ever seen. The servers are always checking on you, the food comes out blazingly fast and Mario is out there on the floor greeting his customers and making sure you're taken care of.
The killer I know for some is they still don't have their liquor license. I'm not sure what the status is and I personally don't care but I know a lot of people have a hard time going to a Mexican joint and can't get a Margarita.
Hopefully they get this wrapped up soon, the food and service is amazing and I really hope...
Read moreMy husband and I are big fans of Mexican food, me probably more so than my husband. Well today, after seeing and hearing numerous positive things about Marios Mexican Grille on Buncombe Rd. in Greer, we decided to give it a try, and it did not disappoint.
We arrived about hour after opening and we were greeted and seated promptly. The restaurant was very clean and vibrant upon walking in.
As with most Mexican restaurants, we were given chips and salsa, one hot and one mild, after being seated. The hot salsa was very good and not overwhelming. We stayed away from the mild, lol. We also ordered some queso because that's just what we do with any new Mexican we try. It was good as well.
My husband ordered the California burrito which was filled with steak, rice, and lettuce. It was supposed to come with tomatoes but he ordered it without them. Then it was topped with queso, green peppers, and onions. I ordered the spicy chimichanga with steak, but you can get it with chicken as well. It was topped with queso and their volcano sauce. There was some spice but it was on the milder side.
The food was hot, fresh, and came out quickly. The service was phenomenal. Our server was Anna and she was awesome in making sure we had everything we needed. We actually got to meet Mario, the owner. Super nice guy and thanked us for coming in and offered us 10% off on our next visit.
We will definitely be going back. Love supporting...
Read moreIt’s very clean and the servers are friendly and fast. The food looks good, but everything lacked seasoning. The only exception was the slightly hot salsa served with chips. My pollo Feliz was tough, and while the spinach was fresh, the mushrooms were clearly not. The side vegetables were also from a freezer, steamed or microwaved, no flavor. We ordered queso for our chips and it was buttery tasting, but had no chilis or any seasoning and was just boring. Also was the smallest possible portion and overpriced at $4.99. I asked if I could substitute refried beans for the rice that normally comes with my entree (they are the same price as sides on the menu) and my check had an additional $5.99 added for “bean dip” (I did not receive a bowl of bean dip, just some on my plate instead of the rice) though they did remove this from my check when I asked. I feel like $23.00 was still pretty expensive for my entree and the queso. If you want bland Texmex food this is the...
