Sabor Catracho Review: “A Culinary Trip to Honduras (Earplugs Required)”

Listen, as someone who grew up in the streets of Honduras, I know Honduran food like the back of my hand. Sabor Catracho nails it. The colors, the textures, the flavors—all of it is like a direct portal to San Pedro Sula. Seriously, after eating here, you might as well cross “Visit Honduras” off your bucket list. (Although, you’ll miss the sunsets and stray dogs.)

But let’s talk about the ambiance. Oh boy. Every time I’ve been here, it’s like stepping into a fever dream at a church revival. The TV is set to MAX volume, blaring the most aggressively mediocre Spanish gospel music I’ve ever heard. It’s not even the cool kind of gospel that makes you want to clap along. Nope—this is the stuff that makes you question who greenlit the recording session. At one point, my Apple Watch hit me with a noise warning like, “Hey, are you at a rock concert or inside a jet engine?” Nope, just trying to enjoy my baleadas.

Now, let’s address the elephant (or rather, the overpriced plate) in the room. The food is great, but why is a single dish $23+? For that price, I could be eating a beautifully crafted sushi platter or a Michelin-starred pad Thai. I mean, I didn’t come here for fine dining, but if you’re going to charge fine-dining prices, maybe turn down the volume and light a candle or two?

My advice: order your food to-go. You’ll save yourself the auditory trauma and still get to enjoy some of the best Honduran cuisine outside of Honduras. Just be ready to pay up for that authenticity.

Final Verdict: Delicious food, but the “ambiance” is louder and pricier than it needs to be. Sabor Catracho: come for the culture, stay for the...

Everything was fine, I ordered the food I kinda got upset the wait was over 30 minutes and I wasn’t told , I was expecting 15 minutes max . But food is food and I understand some take longer than others, on another note I finally took the food home and my father (who hasn’t eaten all day) was so happy to have food from his ethnicity and dug in eating happy and fast cause he was soooo hungry and realized his pork was still a lil pink. I really hope he doesn’t get sick, he did call and was told to bring the food back and we’d get money in return but the problem is, he ate most of it and we were just hoping for apologies and maybe a discount offer or something to show that it won’t happen again or that they were deeply sorry since there is a risk he will get food poising or wake up sick. We won’t be getting food from here again and if it does get to the point he’s sick tomorrow I will be calling and pushing this further . Raw pork is dangerous and I am pregnant so luckily it wasn’t me who ate it but it could’ve been me. No one wants to wait half an hour and have to come back just for the money back, it’s late. A new plate would’ve been just fine . Atleast would’ve showed sympathy considering it was disappointing finding out my father ate...

This is one of those places that if you take the time to seek it out, you will be rewarded. Its a small location without a big sign out front, but once you got in, you're in the family kitchen. This is homestyle food made with love, and it's freaking delicious. Fried chicken with avocado, cheese, beans, plantains, pickled onions and more. It's a hearty meal for cold night and will leave you thinking about your next visit

Small hidden I say I never knew it was here , I had to come in and try . The food is prepared and very delicious. I recommend to anyone who’s willing to try something different. I rather eat then fast food. Has a few stuff as clothing and food. It’s small yet hopefully it grows bigger as the customers come . I give thumbs up 👍🏼 customer service was good 👍🏼
