I don't like to post negative reviews, but this one was so bad that I just don't feel right not posting it. I grabbed lunch to go today at Pancheros in Grimes. There were 3 people working behind the counter. I know that no restaurant is going to have the same cleanliness aspect as I have at home, but you generally expect workers to at least provide some level of awareness around cleanliness and hygiene. The girl who took my order had already waited on several customers before me. There were at least 6 people ahead of me, and she never once changed her gloves. In addition, she handled cash register receipts and various other non food things behind the counter between customers, all while still wearing the same pair of gloves. When she was making burritos, she cross contaminated everything she touched and all of the food items she touched. She was wiping dropped food items off of the counter with her gloved hands, and then handling balls of burrito dough and not changing her gloves. She used the veggie ladel to spread out stuff on a burrito, touching it to the meat and the beans and the flour burrito, then put it back in the veggie tray. As a vegetarian and someone who can't have gluten in their diet, that is a BIG no-no. She did the same with every other ladel she touched and then put back. I spoke up today to the girl behind the counter and told her I didn't appreciate her cross contaminating everything and not changing her gloves, and she just said "ok" and kept doing what she was doing. She clearly didn't care that it mattered to me. Pancheros advertises that all of their food with the exception of the flour tortillas are gluten free. While that may be true, it only works if they are careful about how they prepare and serve the food. Without that precaution, the gluten free label is worthless. None of the workers changed their gloves the entire time I was there. In addition, the amount of bacteria that was potentially transferred to everyone's food in the short amount of time I was there is alarming. The time before when I was there, the man behind the counter kept touching his hat, his hair, and his face, and then put his hands in the cheese and meat containers to get the stuff out to put on the burrito or in the bowls, instead of using the ladel or tongs. And he never bothered changing his gloves either. I won't be eating there anymore. Either they don't do enough training or the people who work there and/or manage it don't care. I don't even want to know what happens in the back kitchen area. It won't let me post this without selecting at least one star, so that's the only reason there is 1 star. They...
Read moreEditing to update: I am now giving this location 1 star because I have had enough. Half the time I ordered food here for pick up it wasn't made correctly and I litterally get 4 ingredients in my bowl. On top of that having to still wait 10-15 minutes after the estimated time half the time with no other customers in the store. I have not eaten here for awhile because I was only going to eat here of I waited in line to order in person considering they couldn't read an order right but my lunch breaks aren't really that long. I apparently just won't learn. Today I ordered in person a bowl with the same 4 ingredients as usual and some chips and every chip in the bag was smashed and way to small to even try to scoop food with and then I found a couple pieces of plastic in my food. I have no idea what is going on here but pancheros needs to take a good look into this location and fix something.
Original: This place has been hit or miss. I order online for pickup every time as I'm on a time crunch with my work break. I've gotten the wrong food before. I pay extra for sour cream every time and sometimes I only get a small scoop which is dumb. The estimated wait time is always 5 minutes, so it takes me about 5 minutes to get there. I had to wait an extra 15 minutes for my food a couple times so I waited 15 minutes to show up and then had to wait ANOTHER 15 minutes to get my food. I pretty much gave up on this location and didn't eat there for a couple weeks but you can only eat mcdonald's so much. One employee in particular has been working almost all the time since Ive started eating here again so when I walk in the door they're typically grabbing the food to hand to me, which is already done before I get there like it should be. I still wait to show up between the 5-10 minute range anyway and avoid going around...
Read moreI placed an online order for delivery. When I was checking the status of my order, the delivery options said "failed". I called Pancheros to see what the issue was. I was told that my order had been cancelled by a 3rd party. But that my order was made. I asked the associate why didn't I get a call since delivery was unavailable, associate states I don't know. I go to pick up order and I tell the guy at the register my name and a female associate says I talked to her, here is her order as she tosses my order on the counter. When I arrive back to work and pass out lunches to my staff, we noticed that all 6 of the quesadillas are just meat and cheese and dry. (no veggies, sour cream, pico de gallo, lettuce, etc.) I called the Pancheros again and asked the female associate why there were no topping on the quesadillas. Female associate checks order that they had received and is very apologetic and asked how she can fix the order. I asked female associate to remake the quesadillas and to place any toppings that could not be cooked with the quesadillas in cups on the side. I also asked for delivery fee to be removed from my receipt since I had to pick order up. Female associate states we don't delivery so I don't know why you were charged. (why was there a delivery option?) Female associate states give her 15 minutes to remake quesadillas. I had a co-worker pick up order. When coworker returned there were only 4 quesadillas not 6. New Quesadillas were sloppily made, still missing toppings. Also my steak quesadilla only had 3 pieces of steak. I did not call Pancheros again because at this point I am very irritated. This was my first time ordering and eating from Pancheros and I am not impressed. Will more than likely not...
