Dan's Rice Box Asian Cuisine — Restaurant in Groton

I NEVER waste food. Especially if I went out and had it made for me. This was the first time I ever threw away one meal, let alone three separate meals and all the sides. This food was so foul that I couldn’t eat for the rest of the day and neither could my partner. We have traveled to many states across the US and have a passion for Asian food, especially Pad Thai.

The pad Thai was the most flavorless thing I’ve tasted since my midwestern neighbor invited me over for dinner. I didn’t know you could possibly mess up peanut butter spaghetti but here we are! Whatever dish I got (can’t remember, but don’t worry, I’m sure they’re all awful) was pretty spicy, which is fine I like spicy food, except that was the ONLY flavor in my dish... Unless you count that one piece of ???? vegetable that was drowning in so much salt that I wondered if it was actually a piece of meat that survived since the medieval times. I know they used ample amounts of salt to preserve their catch before the invention of a good proper ice box. If that’s the case, wow congrats - I’ve now tasted history. Sadly, I doubt this is the case.

Alas we arrive at my child’s dish. Just a simple vegetable chow mein. No mummified meats, bland neighborly greetings, nothing of great note except the stench of wet dog and existential dread that filled my idling powder blue Prius. I thank god that my kid has arrived at the final stage of the terrible twos where he has refused even the greater delicacies of the tiny human palette, otherwise I’m afraid one bite of this could have wreaked havoc on the shirt fiber and one corn flake that he had eaten earlier that day.

I’m surprised there’s a single review higher than two stars on here, I’m not going to lie, I’m judging you. Are you okay over there?

It took the girl more than 10 min to place my order over the phone. She didn't know how to put things in the computer and had to ask her manager how to do things. Then she still tried to order the wrong things for me. Before getting off the phone she told me that it would be about 40 min until it was delivered. After waiting an hour I called back and asked about it. I was told that a lot of orders had come in the same time I placed mine and that they were working on it. She couldn't give me a time frame as to how long it was going to take, but said it would be delivered soon. Not even 10 min later I get a phone call from them telling me that "he freaked" at my order and I would have to wait until closing to get it. But, they would give me a discount for next time. I told her I wanted a refund and that there would be NO next time and I would be sure to post reviews about this because I feel this is not good business practice. I had four children that were waiting for dinner and ended up having cold cereal for dinner since the Chinese food place could not deliver our food. There's no way we will EVER think about going back to this place!!! Plus, I am calling my bank this morning since my money was NEVER refunded!!!

I have been a Rice Box customer from the start. Then a a couple of years ago it switch owners. With that came changes...changes that I didn't like. Finally tonight I spoke with the new owner...he promised me I would love it and guess what??? I did.

The General Tso's chicken is back to be spicy...each thing we ordered was delicious and had its own special seasoning...which is terrific. Though I would suggest that they learn how to fry the dumplings better.

Over all I'd give it an A. And if they can get the fried dumplings correct...they'll be back up to A+ in no time at all. Delivery was expedient also, which was a nice change too. :) So thank you Rice Box. You won back one of your...
